If I am not mistaken, a number of the service 980's bus drivers from AMDEP and WLDEP are already driving bendies on service 980 regulary on alternate Sundays. There are also a number of standby drivers tooOriginally posted by carbikebus:Some Good news,Few SLs from both depots has been selected for bendy training,Sources say that both AMDEP & WLDEP will have 1 perm bendy each.
Then that's no choice lo... I don't care how they really deploy their buses, so long I don't see last bus still packed 100+1% fully with pax, then it's okay for me le..Originally posted by muziq bus:seriously, when its morn off peak from town to wdl, demand is really low. no need for bendy.
and, from 8pm to end of operation, demand from wdl to town oso not that great...
so full bendy is not worth it...since they already tested

That's great if the source is correct. But do they add on to the Sunday fleet as well?Originally posted by carbikebus:Some Good news,Few SLs from both depots has been selected for bendy training,Sources say that both AMDEP & WLDEP will have 1 perm bendy each.
If I am not mistaken almost all of the AMDEP 980 perm drivers have driven bendies on service 980 before, they take turns to drive bendies depending on their shift timings which they cover on that particular Sunday. When is a standby driver, service 980 will stick back to rigid perm regardless of shift timings.Originally posted by carbikebus:Many AMDEP Ones dont have Bendy license my friend
Started off with TIB1201M on December 2001, then switched to TIB1174H in May 2002. It was the only bendy perm on service 980 until Sepember 2003 when Tibs took away bendy perm on service 980 and replaces it with a LanceOriginally posted by off_service:Once upon a time back in 2003, there's a certain Habit perm on 980, TIB 1174 H. However, it got transferred to 804 when bendies are deployed on it...
Only a couple can drive bendy,Sundays usually are perm Standbys or other service Off Day Work SLsOriginally posted by TIB1018B:If I am not mistaken almost all of the AMDEP 980 perm drivers have driven bendies on service 980 before, they take turns to drive bendies depending on their shift timings which they cover on that particular Sunday. For WLDEP side I remember there are also 3-4 perm 980 drivers who can drive bendies too. Always and ocasionally they get to drive bendies when they are scheduled to drive the PM peak extra bus shift (980 PM16).
Oh yah I forgot about 1201M.. Anyway AMDEP seems to be more "bendy friendly" to service 980 compared to WLDEP..Originally posted by TIB1018B:Started off with TIB1201M on December 2001, then switched to TIB1174H in May 2002. Like 859 off-peak? I see the Bendy buses like near empty. If use rigid I think only half full. But peak hour then is different.Originally posted by off_service:Besides thinking of only the high loading at that certain area, SMRT also has to justify the cost for operating bendies on low loads, which meant almost practically empty buses at times.
