According to timesheet 30S, one of the trips say the bus is scheduled to arrive at 1812 hrs at New Bridge Road Terminal. -

I really used this small space as a standee area while I was on SBS 8036X on 174 as the bus was really crowded especially at the Orchard Road area. The jam was only cleared when the bus pulled up at the bus stop outside Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station. -

However, in my opinion, for SMRT EDS, I can't really see the route information clearly from a distance for a service. And besides, now, I suppose most of the bus stops have been equipped with bus route information. So, it doesn't matter to me. As for cost I am not too sure.
EDS,
Pros:
No need to make desto during route amendment
No need to maintain desto, e.g. broken desto
No need to make desto at all/Environmentally Friendly. (PLASTIC desto)
Reduces logistics headache, such as ensuring that buses have the necessary desto
Cons:
Need to maintain
One could argue that EDS consume electricity and in the end may consume more resources than a plastic desto. This one I leave it up to you to decide. Keep in mind LED are highly energy efficient.
