[Locked] SBS Transit orders 900 buses from Scania (Part 1)

answer:
when accelerating not much force, wun dislodge wheelchair
BUT when braking oh man. so much force sometimes. so the cushion is face that way. -
some things i dun like bout the new new bus
1) the rattling of the air-con pod cover is driving me insanes.
2) the vibration of the poles n grabpoles give me impression they may drop anytime. scarieee
3) in Australia they shape the contour of the equipment + wheel-well area in front to hold 8 more seats. instead of one long oblong there jho deng.
so why cant we follow australian style. 8033 came close but never shape properly to hold seats.
4) why the EDS never display Chinese one. isn't it China brand?
5) shd use plastic side desto.... the scrolling of word in English is make my eye go wurly wurly.
6) the bus pick up slow de.
7) the wheelchair ramp mannual de.
the door closing is too loud for such a quiet n smooth engine bus.
9) the bus stopping chime so soft. might as well use the bell-ding like Australian bus.
10) the air-con ducting got so many unsightly evenly spaced holes. shd put a nice metal cover over these holes. can better control the air-con coming out using metal chrome slits. (shining chrome so nice nice amke bus more modern)

One more disadvantage about the KUBs:
12) The horn of the KUB is too loud!
Useful in alerting another kayu driver, but not useful when you go near the bus. I almost got a shock when I was resting to wait for another bus at Sims Place yesterday. -

The K230 body is sooo conservative. I can't imagine 500 dull-looking buses.

Even though the EDS is made in China, whether it will show Chinese characters will have to depend on the software that comes along with it. Logical sense would tell us that a bilingual software should cost more than a totally English one (I don't think it's easy to program for Chinese characters to show on EDS).Originally posted by ZYX2005:4) why the EDS never display Chinese one. isn't it China brand?
Furthermore tourists are encouraged to utilize trains while commuting around. So I think it's ok not to show destinations in Chinese. What irk me is the programming. Showing of end destination is not clear at all. Anyone with common sense will put only one destination at a time. Not two without any indication of where the bus will end.
In such a fast paced place like Singapore, I think it would be faster to ask the BC if the bus goes somewhere, isn't it? -

The body dull, never mind, but what I dislike is how wants SBST wants the K230 to look nice, but come up with this body and the EDS. Why can't we just have simple but practical bodies if we want to keep costs low? Even the CDGE body on the B9TL looks way better, and it's definitely far better in taste and practicality. -
Also, to add on... the EDS itself mus be of a certain resolution to display chinese characters. The EDS on the scanias are not "fine" (fine in terms of amount of pixels) enough to display chinese characters. Oh, and one more thing... anyone find it very hard to read the eds from far at night due to the super bright LEDs used? i simply see one big glow of orange from far... can only see the svc no when the bus comes closer... -

I really wonder how will the K230UB fare (full load) when climbing steep slopes especially on routes like 179 (NUS), 36,48,518 (ECP).
