Yeah...It's better when the Merc O405 comes...at least there's space...when the DM comes..its really..."spacious" - so much that I can barely find moving space sometimes when its crowdedOriginally posted by SBS9818A:you haven't seen the load on 54, especially on saturdays and sundays. filled with lots of old folks headed to chinatown, temples at river valley etc. more so than 56..
Yay. Lots of standing space I supposeOriginally posted by Oceane:54 and 124 are potential AM/BR candidates to get the K230s. But let's not be excited for now. News will unfold itself one.![]()

There's 1 Mercedes O405 that has no standing space one. SBS 0293 Y (268 AMDEP). Today doing 410W, boarded it on my way to MOELC.Originally posted by n4l:Yeah...It's better when the Merc O405 comes...at least there's space...when the DM comes..its really..."spacious" - so much that I can barely find moving space sometimes when its crowded
The load is more from Interchange -> Marymount Road...and Novena onwards...
Compare 54 with 56.Originally posted by nenepokey:more likely to be 56. passes thru TPY. lot's of oldies there.
Not remembering to consider that Bishan and Marymount/Thomson/Shunfu has old folk loads tooOriginally posted by 566117:Compare 54 with 56.
SV 54: Bishan -> Marymount/Thomson -> Newton/Scotts -> River Valley -> New Bridge Rd
SV 56: Bishan -> Toa Payoh -> Thomson -> Kg Java -> Beach Rd -> Marina Ctr
In italics are where the "oldie" loads come from. I would say that 54 has a better chance of getting the Scanias compared to 56.
Most importantly, 54 passes Chinatown. Many svcs passing there (2/12/51/80/143/147/174) have low-floor buses.
Never see before...I thought they were all the same? 54 smells occasionally of fish and food smell just like 851Originally posted by Oceane:There's 1 Mercedes O405 that has no standing space one. SBS 0293 Y (268 AMDEP). Today doing 410W, boarded it on my way to MOELC.
Inside smells different from other Mercedes.![]()
54 has a lower demand than 56...56 passes thru little india which is in need of WAB services as currently only 64 and 147..Chinatown already too many liao..all the ADD at new bridge road are WAB liaoOriginally posted by 566117:Compare 54 with 56.

K230UB is designed as a crush loading bus to squeeze as many people as possible. 56 has higher pax loads, esp during peak hrs. Its also not meant for chionging around but for speedy travel in between bus stops. 54's routing allows for abit of chionging at marymount rd and paterson rd, but 56 is more point to point.Originally posted by 566117:Compare 54 with 56.

54 passes thru shunfu which is an older estate, and goes to chinatown/SGH as well. 56 goes to Toa payoh, and also goes little india. in terms of routing, both are not very suitable as neither passes thru enough hospitals/ old towns to urgently justify WABs. but 54 is a bit better as it goes near SGH. i'll still say 56 still stands a higher chance as its loading is higher, and toa payoh has far more old folks that shunfu. but AM/ BR services that really deserve K230UBs first would be 124 & 131, go through St mikes + bt merah
rephrase... INSIDE SUNTEC..marina areaOriginally posted by SBS1985C:Suntec has 196![]()
Not sure about 166 but 197 does use New Bridge Road... it has a bus stop just outside NBR Terminal next to Outram Park MRT.Originally posted by SBS9888Y:wow since when 166 or 197 used new bridge road...NEW NEWS?
I'd say 56 more likely to get K230 BEFORE 54... although most likely BOTH will get them.Originally posted by SBS9888Y:Whampoa area
IMO, 130, 139 and 145 top priority...124 will definitely get without doubt...131 would be later... esp 139...old folks living in toa payoh, whampoa, selegie (little india), bukit merah, alexandra road, lengkok bahru area...going thru PS, river valley and little india...
this is for Bishan Route Group
56 passes thru TTSH, KK Hosp...54 passes thru Mt Alvernia, TTSH, GH... shunfu is a very small area...i would not call it a town though..like pandan gardensboth are equally eligible but SBSt favours 55 and 56 slightly more than 54...but 54 is the thirdmost favored service in the bishan route group...does river valley have weird slopes? this could be a reason..16 went learning the K230s...but later they didnt get..SBST's reason Stadium area...abit weird though..i dun think Merdeka Bridge's 3.3m is very low or the roads have weird slopes with bends...
no...it uses Neil RoadOriginally posted by Oceane:Not sure about 166 but 197 does use New Bridge Road... it has a bus stop just outside NBR Terminal next to Outram Park MRT.
54 63 and 124... lol.Originally posted by SBS9888Y:no...it uses Neil Road
SBST buses using New Bridge Road: 2, 12, 33, 54, 63, 124, 143, 147, Chinatown directs..all the ADD Services are WAB
around the area there is 51 and 80..isnt it alot..adding on upcoming 63 and the variety of WAB buses of 174 which plies near chinatown...awful lot of WAB services? but the fact remains that chinatown is made of mainly the elderly
All 4 will get new buses.Originally posted by Oceane:54 63 and 124... lol.
Maybe 33 would also get them shortly. But I wonder if the slopes around Kent Ridge can be suited for the K230. Most likely yes since B10TL has done 10 and arrived at Kent Ridge in 1 piece. Is the bumper of the K230 lower than the B10TL?![]()

If River Valley cannot, means BOTH 54 & 139 cannot.Originally posted by Oceane:I think River Valley could have up and down slopes? But SBST does give wierd reasons for not giving K230s to a service.![]()
