Read somewhere that from the 5th gen onwards, they will not be using this numbering system but will switch to using the horsepower. Hence K230UB instead of K95UB. But in general, the chassis is designated as a KUB chassis, with the engine horsepower rating allowed to vary.Originally posted by ZYX2005:aiarah fed up
LTA make mistake lah
shd be k95UB4X2
( K designates the way Scania fit or prop up the engine, be it transverse, horizontal or longitudinal - in this case for "K" i dunno what it means, must be Swedish word approx 9 litre engine / 5th generation Scania , 4 wheels , arranged in two tracks .
what is kUb4X2??
bus no litre or horsepower ah?
u may have seen k230Ub4X2. also can. 230 stands for horsepower of the engine.

And maybe also the WA MBO405s that are due for scrapping soon... really going to miss those AMDEP buses they rock.Originally posted by brotherchen1982:HGDEP based to replace the outgoing Mk 2s???![]()
Why not?Originally posted by tintinspartan:HG are replacing MK-II with MK-IIIs. Saw them being redeployed on 325, 113 and 112. We never saw a MK-III perm before the first MK-II deregistered.
All I have to say is WTF and OMG and WTH! SBS8888D is registered to a Scania K230UB! We are going to name this bus 'Mr Lucky' or 'The Swedish Luck'.
Not forgetting BRBP WA O405s.Originally posted by Oceane:And maybe also the WA MBO405s that are due for scrapping soon... really going to miss those AMDEP buses they rock.
Maybe next time we'd see Scanias on 53, 54, 55, 56, 58, 59 and 410. Think these Bishan bus services used around (or close to, not really able to estimate) 30 ~ 40 of those WA MBO405s.
I don't think there would be a ComfortDelgro Engineering designed Scania K230UB in this batch. As it could be seen in the Scania press release, all would have Gemilang bodywork, and based on past trends, bodies from other coach builders would most probably be imported as ckd, and then assembled at CDGE's BA/HG. Meaning that most likely, majority of the buses are going to be bodied by ComfortDelgro themseleves.Originally posted by Oceane:Why not?
Just like SBS 9888 Y and SBS 9889 U.
I'm affirmative the ComfortDelgro Scania is going to SBS 8888 D.
But is there enough Mk3s and 4s to replace all the Mk2s in hgdep, bndep and bbdep? Or Merc in slbp to replace the Mk2s there? There would be a case of bus shortage if bad planning of deployment occurs, especially when Scanias and Mercs are also going off soon. I strongly believe that the Scanias on 66 and the transfer of buses from amdep to bndep and also JB Mk3s on 96 are temporary measures to curb the bus shortage in bndep and bbdep until bndep and bbdep get their share of the K230UBs.Originally posted by tintinspartan:HG are replacing MK-II with MK-IIIs. Actually, theres some rumors that there will be some special "fronts" for the whole batch of 500 buses. Specifically, there might be a special one with a RapidKL styled front for the bodywork... dont know if thats trueOriginally posted by SBS351M:I don't think there would be a ComfortDelgro Engineering designed Scania K230UB in this batch. I doubt that all would go to CDGE, some may be subcontracted out to hasten the job.Originally posted by SBS351M:I don't think there would be a ComfortDelgro Engineering designed Scania K230UB in this batch. Hard to say...The ones for Rapid KL is by Deftech, although if they want they might just kope from Deftech for their buses. Seriously 500 buses witht the same bodywork is boring, luckily Mercs we have NAC/CAC and OAC for DM.Originally posted by XiaoTaro:Actually, theres some rumors that there will be some special "fronts" for the whole batch of 500 buses. Volvo has a D7E engine which does not ned addictives to become Euro 4, with addictives, it meets Euro 5 requirements.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Nope . Some Volvo engines require additives to be Euro-IV .![]()
What about the B12B? Is it Euro IV compliant?Originally posted by Scania:Volvo has a D7E engine which does not ned addictives to become Euro 4, with addictives, it meets Euro 5 requirements.
Whoops . Sorry for any confusion . I forgot to indicate that im refering to the Volvo B9L . I read from the brochure , saying that it uses SCR technology to be EuroIV , but in SCR , AdBlu is sprayed onto the exhaust , before the SCR removes it .Originally posted by Scania:Volvo has a D7E engine which does not ned addictives to become Euro 4, with addictives, it meets Euro 5 requirements.
It would be the B12BLE . Anyway , yes . it is EuroIV compliant .Originally posted by iveco:What about the B12B? Is it Euro IV compliant?

8033D is the demo. 8888D is a production model. You see the bus will find that look like other production one.Originally posted by nenepokey:hehe...maybe SBS8888D could be a demonstrater?
Unlikely for SBS8888D to be a CDGE demonstrator, the bus has already been registered, thus bodywork should have been built up. In that case, there would have been another k230ub with another bodywork somewhere in singapore. Chances are very slim that they would do that.Originally posted by nenepokey:hehe...maybe SBS8888D could be a demonstrater?
MAN doesn't seem to be too popular in SG but has a rather large following in MY, though.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Actually , it would be good if SBST/SMRT brings in MAN . MAN i read from the brochure , doesnt requires additives to be EuroIV . it uses their own filtration technology to make the exhaust EuroIV compliant.
As well as SDs and Bendies !Originally posted by iveco:MAN doesn't seem to be too popular in SG but has a rather large following in MY, though.
I hope to see DDs from the MAN stable in SG.
