Not necessary.Originally posted by ZYX2005:I see before driver behind schedule then juz remove desto. but this is bad in terms of bus operations because ppl further down the route have on eless bus to wait for n squeeze onto.
even tho the bus behind is 2 mins after the late bus, a 2 min longer wait is frustrating.
according to a bus and coach management textbook (Fawkes) in NUS, people feel frustrated to see buses with ppl on board but yet just go by. it is not a wise way to operate a bus company to frustrate ur potential customers like that.

if dead runs to pick up more pax from downroute resulting in greater revenue, why not? This is in converse to waiting for a full route bus that is packed resulting in frustrated commuters which may divert to taking SMRT buses or taxi instead. (other sbst services aside)Originally posted by ZYX2005:true u cna do downroute. but downroute means more zero revenue runs. ie dead runs. downrouting is not such a great idea if u do too many dead runs with ur buses. dead runs means waste fuel and u dun recover ur losses with passengers paying for service.
furthermore when u down route u may miss out an earlier portion of the route such that the passengers there get to be frustrated when the 'off serviced" bus zoom by with pax on board.

Some drivers even more power, they just zoom past the bus stop without stopping even the bus is not full as they are late in terms of schedule.Originally posted by ZYX2005:I see before driver behind schedule then juz remove desto. but this is bad in terms of bus operations because ppl further down the route have one less bus to wait for n squeeze onto.

BUT!,, the textbook explains that due to driver work hour shifts (driver work hour shifts are regulated by terms of agreement with trade unions) , this practice may have to be adopted so as to ensure the driver dun exceed the stipulated work hours. . so therefore no choice. the book's author says that the driver can still make up for loss time further down the route. well can try.

i fully agree.Originally posted by tanjun:Some drivers even more power, they just zoom past the bus stop without stopping even the bus is not full as they are late in terms of schedule.
my friend once experienced a 961 BC in the morning peak and the bus is packed lyk sardine liao, cannot move. BC stop at every bus stop, telling the passengers who wan to board that another bus will be coming very soon and ask them to wait for the next busOriginally posted by patdog112:190 had never clear its EDS even its crowded until nobody can move in anymore... the driver always juz drive pass the bus stop
nv see SMRT bus do that before
but some BCs just think their bus damn big like tht, already squeeze until doors, still want to continue squeezing.Originally posted by ZYX2005:i fully agree.
however this practice stems back from the early days of sbs till late 80s still got. sbst even had to campaign amongst its drivers to "stop at all bus stops" and "dun skip stops". .

Got one BC like that . Spent an entire 8 mins just to squeeze plp on board.Originally posted by Y_Shun:but some BCs just think their bus damn big like tht, already squeeze until doors, still want to continue squeezing.
why? scare ppl complains.![]()
there are red stickers on the steps stating "NO STANDING ON STEPS". BC by right should not have allowed anymore pax to board the overcrowded bus.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Got one BC like that . Spent an entire 8 mins just to squeeze plp on board.![]()
Normally I see BCs/SLs asking pax to scan infront and board from exit.
