10: Upp Changi - Jurong -> Somapah - Jurong -> Tampines - Jurong -> Tampines - Clementi -> Tampines - Kent RidgeOriginally posted by metavolta:Have you ever wonder how drastic has bus routes change from then and now?
For example
10 ( Tampinese -> Clementi [ then] , Kent Ridge [ Now]
197 ( Bedok -> Boon Lay [ then ] , Jurong East [ Now]
198 ( Jurong East [ then ] -> Sims Place [ then]
Boon Lay [ Now ] -> Bukit Merah )
SO drastic that i prefer the old routes.. rather then the "new" routes

sv 502 cut back to Marina Centre during NEL Rationalisation.Originally posted by tanjun:At my hse there, major route change is 103 after NEL rationalisation. They cut 103 and withdraw 501 and 502.
However, new services such as 43 and 109 are intorduced.

at one time 390 hit the ECP via ophir road. that was its first ver of routing. it went by selegie rd even. 390 was intro with the CGA plan. whereby suddenly u have 390 391 392 393 and 394 in 1981.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:Service 390

i remember seeing 28 and or 147 on dunno some weird deviation of leyland Axxxxxxxx? the bus has like very small rectangular front desto holder and it's definitely not in round corners and the wheel outline of the bus is not round but somehow like trapezium....pardon me if my description is go yak....Originally posted by Volvo Olympian:Even before that 28 use to be Tampines - New Bridge Rd
196 goes way back. then it was a gagek selerai barat (Lower delta area ter - jurong shipyard (yes as in 249's jurong shipyard) (under chinese bus co days)Originally posted by tintinspartan:Two more service you guys left out:
196
old: Clementi to Marine Parade
now: Clementi to Bedok
Reason of Route ChangeClosure of Marine Parade Terminal to make way for Victoria School and Hostel Construction
16: Bukit Merah to Marine Parade
Now: Bukit Merah to Bedok
Old: Bukit Merah to Marine Parade (loop)
Reason for route changeBetter serve passengers from Bedok side going to Singapore Indoor Stadium to cover the loss of CSS 608.
And why do some 196 buses display their old destos now. Saw one B9TL with Standard Chartered Ad with 196 ClementiMarine Parade old front desto. Ask STN for the pic.
When service 197 shifted from Jurong interchange to (former) Boon Lay interchange in July 1990, its other-end destination was already Bedok interchange. From the first day (former) Boon Lay interchange started operation, I do not recall any service there that terminate at Lor 1 Geylang terminal.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:Sorry got to correct you
Geylang Lorong 1 - Jurong , Geylang Lorong 1 - Boon Lay ,Geylang Lorong 1 - Jurong East , Bedok - Jurong East
When svc 197 took took over svc 41's Bedok - Bukit Merah Road. It was already re-routed to Jurong East, not Boon Lay.
Nope, I am very sure of this. When 197 shifted from Jurong to Boon Lay,Boon Lay to Jurong East, it was still based at Geylang Lorong 1. I am very sure of this because I used to stay at Marine Parade. Often hang out at Marine Parade terminal and Bedok. When Service 41 and 197 merged, 197 (Geylang Lorong 1 was then extended to Bedok)Originally posted by tranquilice:When service 197 shifted from Jurong interchange to (former) Boon Lay interchange in July 1990, its other-end destination was already Bedok interchange.
