A cross between 16E and 36. It does not serve Marine Parade Rd unlike 36, and does not go to Bukit Merah unlike 16E.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:its 16E before 36

I still have to say that you are wrong. Please refer to page 199 of Transitlink Guide 1992, you can see that service 197 was already plying Bedok - Boon Lay. An amendment made on 28 June the same year shortened it from Bedok - Boon Lay to Bedok - Jurong East. You can also see in this version of Transitlink Guide, service 41 did not appear in the guide as it was already integrated with service 197.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:Nope, I am very sure of this. When 197 shifted from Jurong to Boon Lay,Boon Lay to Jurong East, it was still based at Geylang Lorong 1. I am very sure of this because I used to stay at Marine Parade. Often hang out at Marine Parade terminal and Bedok. When Service 41 and 197 merged, 197 (Geylang Lorong 1 was then extended to Bedok)
ZXY can backed me up on this.
Old service 180 was in fact Marsiling - WTC. Withdrawn in early 1990s. Number reused in March 1996 with the cutback of service 951 from Wodlands to Bt Panjang.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:Hmm....
180 was Adm Rd Ter to WTC service, later withdrawn, and re intro in 1995 as Bt Panjang - Boon Lay service.
Service 3 (one of SBS's earliest FAC service) in the 1980s, from Bedok to Jurong East. Withdrawn in 1990 I think. Number reused in 2001 when feeder 294 and intra-town 357 merged to become a new service. Route extended to Punggol in 2004.Originally posted by MingFreeman:3 (bedok to jurong, now tamp to punggol)

Service 390 was once a so-called express bus service from Changi Airport to Holland Road via Orchard in the 1980s, with full fleet Albion Vikings. Eventually became full AC fleet with OAC Scanias after the withdrawal of Albion Vikings. However this service was withdrawn in 1993, and service 16 was extended to Changi Airport from Marine Parade to cover for service 390.Originally posted by ^tamago^:A cross between 16E and 36. In fact, just Service 36 minus the Suntec and Marine Parade route. It used to use Rochor and Selegie Roads until Marina Centre was open.
Service 82 also... from Punggol - Shenton Way now cutback to Serangoon - Punggol End. Worse till bus deployments from VO3x/Tridants now downgraded to NAC MK2sOriginally posted by tanjun:At my hse there, major route change is 103 after NEL rationalisation. They cut 103 and withdraw 501 and 502.
However, new services such as 43 and 109 are intorduced.

SBS sv 8 got itself reborn again as a fully aircon service as Toa Payoh - Tampines in 1990. Managed to survived till today using Leyland Olympians!Originally posted by ZYX2005:on service 7 in 1980, it expressed after tg katong area then along stamford rd then start calling at stops again. along with service 8 its partner service to shenton way. service 6 was also from this group to chiantown. all 6 , 7 and 8 served bedok to the above city areas using the same express sector.
sadly service 7 is the sole survivor today. the rest were...voted out.
REVIEW

To be exact sv 16E (now 36) terminate at Bt Merah int together with 16. After enhancements were made to 16 and 36, sv 36 was cutback to loop at Tomlinson Rd instead (similar case like sv 390 in the past).Originally posted by TIB1018B:Service 390 was once a so-called express bus service from Changi Airport to Holland Road via Orchard in the 1980s, with full fleet Albion Vikings. In 1995 a peak hour express service 16E was introduced between Changi Airport to Orchard. Somewhere in 1998 the service was renumbered to service 36. Further enhancements was made on service 36 to ply from Orchard to Changi Airport via ECP and Marine Parade areas, it became a full day service. Service 16 was then cutback to Marine Parade.
Seems like passengers must have been complaining about the very long journey on service 16 from Orchard to Changi Airport after the withdrawal of service 390. SBS had no choice but to come out with this decision
Difference between services 36 and service 390 is that service 36 goes by ECP from Marina Square / Suntec City, turns in to Marine Parade and then back to ECP again to Changi Airport. Whereas service 390 goes straight to Changi Airport from Marina Square in the past.
actually rite... before the Eunos to Ghim Moh route, it was previouely.Originally posted by TIB1018B:Service 13 (past): Eunos to Ghim Moh

Service 147 used to ply Victoria St, Kallang Rd and Lavender St (Lavender St, Crawford St and North Bridge Rd in the return direction). When service 147 was integrated with service 83 (Punggol - New Bridge Rd), service 147 was amended to ply Stamford Rd, Waterloo St, Middle Rd, Selegie Rd and Serangoon Rd (Jln Besar, Bencoolen St and Bras Basah Rd in the return direction).Originally posted by ZYX2005:sorry arh have to recall from memory. may be wrong. basically it goes like this
MRT line from bedok to Bugis. then
new bridge rd - end at bus ter
later in 1986, 3 was extended to jurong east gg via kampong bahru rd, jln bt merah, queensway, commonwelath ave then MRT line again. in 1987 or late 86 3 became a FAC service
to cut the long story short, it copied 147 from China town. then worse is they withdraw air-con 3. then find demand still there so shoot this AIR-CON 148 (Geylang lor 1 - Clementi) to duplicate the above said 147 duplication.
then the demand for 147 west side finally dropped. 9due to population move north east and outwards from west area) . thus AIR-COn148 met its demise.
