They can use bendies , but i believe its more of the demand for the rest of the time especially off peaks. I don't think it has to do with the narrow roads at teck whye area.Originally posted by SBS 9613Z:307 can use bendies? If that's the case I hope to see perm bendies on 307 soon...

Services 151 was downgraded to PAC in 2001 due to the fact that service 170 officially became a FAC in 2001 where all the Volvo MK3s were redeployed. Other bus services that were affected included services 91 and 191 which was downgraded to a NAC service
Services 82 and 103 supposed to be FAC after SBS took back the services from Tibs in 1999, now also downgraded to PAC.
Service 11 from FAC downgraded to NAC/PAC.
Service 32 and 155 supposed to be converted to FAC but became PAC 2 years back.
Service 115 started off as 1 AC bus now downgraded to a NAC bus
Feeders especially under BNDEP can still kanna NAC Scanias even though they are supposed to be FAC??
But got the feeling that service 151 will eventually become FAC after all the Volvo MK2s are phased out mid next year.
SV78 doesn't fall under this plan. But btw,I remember looking this article & photocopied it from the old New Nation newspaper dated 1 Mar 1978.Originally posted by sbst275:Sv 154A (Crawford St <-> Jurong)Later on became Sv 209 but route adjusted
Talking abt Jurong, did anyone had any idea abt Jurong Bus Plan? Was Sv 78 implemented under this plan?

Wait...TIBS was formed in 1982, started operations around 1983. Yet, even at that time, they were 'grabbing' routes...Originally posted by ^tamago^:Well you can say so.
They don't have a choice. They can't simply change all the routes with their own because it'll confuse the residents, and it needs PTC approval anyway.![]()
SGWiki stated that 171 was once control by KJDEP,How could that possible?Originally posted by ^tamago^:169 was handed over in the 80s when Tibs first came up, as they took over Woodlands.
171 was handed over to Tibs on 5th Nov 1995. First to use Bendy (TIB838H) in Jun 1996.
190 was formed in 1988 (Bt Panjang to New Bridge Rd) , but in fact it was re-introduced.Originally posted by simnatic:This is kind of OT, but i want to ask, when was 190 formed?
171 was never controlled by KJ.Originally posted by carbikebus:SGWiki stated that 171 was once control by KJDEP,How could that possible?
Service 171 was a PAC fleet under SBS. Tibs wanted to maintain its PAC status for service 171 so they got to deploy some NAC Nissan buses to service 171 as well as the new AC Merc buses. But things turned around for service 171 when all the NAC Nissan buses were replaced by the newer NAC Scania Elbos (TIB839E-TIB844P I thinkOriginally posted by SBST390:171 was never controlled by KJ.
SBS gave up 171 to TIBS in Nov 1995 as part of the mega swap with the BPJ services. It didn't make sense to have a single SBS service operate out of YIS (it was xtended after the service got movec from the old Mandai Road PO to the defunct terminal where the Nee Soon Driclad now is).
The BBDEP O405 OACs and CACs were replaced by the UD U31RCNs CACs (28x, 31x and 336). becos not enuff buses, the service downgraded to PAC, until the time the box merz came in and it became one pf the first services tio go FAC. The UDs were based in AMK
Just like service 171 and 980...Originally posted by Volvo Olympian:They can use bendies , but i believe its more of the demand for the rest of the time especially off peaks. I don't think it has to do with the narrow roads at teck whye area.
When 197 shifted from Jurong to Boon Lay, it was still going to Geylang Lor 1. The Boon Lay Interchange Guide and the 1990 Bus Guide reflects this. The Bedok amendment came later.Originally posted by tranquilice:When service 197 shifted from Jurong interchange to (former) Boon Lay interchange in July 1990, its other-end destination was already Bedok interchange. From the first day (former) Boon Lay interchange started operation, I do not recall any service there that terminate at Lor 1 Geylang terminal.
I still have to say that you are wrong. Please refer to page 199 of Transitlink Guide 1992, you can see that service 197 was already plying Bedok - Boon Lay. An amendment made on 28 June the same year shortened it from Bedok - Boon Lay to Bedok - Jurong East. You can also see in this version of Transitlink Guide, service 41 did not appear in the guide as it was already integrated with service 197.
The Leyland Victory can be considered as SBS's first CAC buses. They were chosen because its engine was powerful enough to take the extra weight of the aircon wihout affecting the performance. The only problem was the high level of saloon noise which discomforts passengers and fatigued drivers. This was solved by adding an insulation of glass fibre and synthetic leather around the engine cover.Originally posted by vivienlee:Nvr see those Leyland Victory aircon buses b4...how does it look like ?? wonder wat happened to those buses after Merz aircon buses came in

No, the lifespan of buses were still fixed at 12 years then. 1976 plus 12 = 1988.Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:The Leyland Victory can be considered as SBS's first CAC buses. The Victories were introduced in 1976. Then, the life span of public buses was 15 years so by he time the O405 came in (1991), the Victories were retired. There were no reports of it being exported so its most likely that they were all scrapped.
