I dont believe NEL will stay under SBST if SBST took over all SMRT Bus operationOriginally posted by phillipC:Hope all the bus operations come under SBST......

But if it really happens that SMRT takes the MRTs and SBS takes the buses, it would be back to square as in 1981. No TIBS even. So, it will be a largely monopolized industry, and it seems very unlikely that the government would do this because "competition is the way to go"Originally posted by carbikebus:I dont believe NEL will stay under SBST if SBST took over all SMRT Bus operation

5 mins for a North bound train is the norm. Irregular peak freq (one day 2 mins, another day 4 mins) is also the norm.Originally posted by sbst275:Even SMRT lines are now runned for profit
It's getting common for 8 mins waiting time during off peak

Not to forget that they are refurbishing all of their OAC merc (currently) .Originally posted by Scania:Actually the bus operation only got affected when it changed brand. Meaning that, by right, Sv 966 was the last service that TIBS introduced.
I must say that SMRT had done some things, but not too much for the commuters. For example, the 950, Sv700, 966 extension to Petir Rd, longer operating hours for 806. However, other issues need to be tackled, for example, bus frequencies, lack of bus services in CCK North, lack of incentive to provide more new basic services, lack of connectivty in the NW region itself and from NW region to other areas.
Since you asked, when ezlink came out there were so many slots on the machine that my grandparents wasn't sure where to insert the card. Once my mom's card got stuck. Then mine too. The other day i saw a group of foreigners commenting on the design, saying of how complicated it was to use. All in all, i think that new machines will not be too bad an investment. It will speed up topping up times and cause less confusion(if better designed)Originally posted by phillipC:SMRT likes to do a lot of nonsense things : Recently wants to replace the ezylink card value added machine with one that does not require the card to be fully inserted into the machine. How many of our card really get "eaten" by the machine when we top up our card?![]()
probably competition of who can sap out more money from singaporeansOriginally posted by Y_Shun:"competion", "competition" where?
compete which AREA's service better? or compete between routes, link between areas.
That's actually true. TIBS, as a only bus company, would of course run better services as it want people to chooses the buses over trains. but it was since the merger that all the changes went more down the drainOriginally posted by Scania:Actually the bus operation only got affected when it changed brand.
