I have same feel as you. Those LO become better when they turned spare.Originally posted by SBS3625D:All I can recall about 9030E was it's very clear ZF sounds, especially when it switches gears.
Among all the former/present 72 LOs, I liked none of them. They are just LOs to me, if you asked me.
In fact, the buses on 72 just seems to get run-down when they come to 72 and improve when they leave.
I never figured out that 9199C was that great on speed, when it was on 72, it was a slow-poke with grease stains every where. 9580J was my favourite VO, but once it went to 72, it became another slow-poke.

Don't know why leh, BC doesn't step hard enoughOriginally posted by alleggerita:Meaning LO3x doesn't like to be worked hard?
How come go svc 72 will become slow? Too much stop-start traffic? Cannot be what..most buses do this kind of routes..tons of traffic lights..so does anybody has a reason or explanation for this?![]()
Not true leh..I think it's half half..some are slackers while some are chiongsters..Originally posted by SBS 233 X:Don't know why leh, BC doesn't step hard enough. The LOs on 72 are slackers
. When they turned spare they can run. Not sure for 9173B now, that one cmi
.
i took SBS9002L on 72, BC drive so slow. but there was once i took him on SBS558J on 54, he didnt drive that slow.Originally posted by alleggerita:Not true leh..I think it's half half..some are slackers while some are chiongsters..
I encounter before B9TL (SBS7412) on svc 72 chiong at max speed of about 60km/h along dunno is it called Old Tampines Road or Tampines Service Road..forgot..but really chiong freakin' fast..
Then another time took the same B9TL, but this time BC crawl at 30km/h I think..![]()

not just O405 wat, any buses can have that problem as long as BC wants to drive like thatOriginally posted by sir_peanuts:i tend to feel that some O405 drivers have this bad habit, they deliberately drive slowly. the engine sounds like it's gonna slow down and roll into a bus bay, you know, once he step on it a bit more he release, then step again and release..
very obvious especially on 174 or 77 along napier road.

Spare buses work harder than any other service buses.Slow doent mean cant speed,Its matter of the timings and BCs/SLsOriginally posted by alleggerita:Meaning LO3x doesn't like to be worked hard?

The N113CRBs had their gearboxes changed from ZF to Voith.Originally posted by sir_peanuts:if scania is indeed just as powerful as a O405 why doesn't it feel so?
i said that having taken 29 along netheravon rd a couple of times this week, it does feel faster than beforebut i feel it's pickup is just not up to the standard of a O405.
Err , None of the N113CRB's had their ZF Gearbox before , Before they use Voith , they use the Scania GAV Gearbox ....Originally posted by Oceane:The N113CRBs had their gearboxes changed from ZF to Voith.

errm...it depends on whether the BC wan to chiong or not. N113CRB aren't bad. that time when i took it on 225G, i almost fell down when the driver started accelerating. N113CRB has one of the best horsepower in the SBS fleet. as compared to the MKIII, MKIII is hopeless. hard to accelerateOriginally posted by sir_peanuts:if scania is indeed just as powerful as a O405 why doesn't it feel so?

Don't compare Merz with N113CRB for acceleration , as the comparison is unfair . Take it that both buses have same horsepower ratings and torque . The merz will still win. Why? The Merz have a Hub Reduction axle. What the Hub Reduction axle does is that it reduces rotational speed while increasing torque . A higher torque level = better acceleration . Hence the merz may win in the end.Originally posted by sir_peanuts:if scania is indeed just as powerful as a O405 why doesn't it feel so?

That doesn't do justice to the MKIII. It really depends on the BC. It also depends on how the MKIII's gearbox is tuned, too loose and the bus will lack momentum, too tight and the bus will waste too much time trying to change gears at the higher rpm regimes.Originally posted by nenepokey:errm...it depends on whether the BC wan to chiong or not. Which Scania you talking about here? Scania L94UB, Scania N113CRB or Scania K230UB? Make urself clear.Originally posted by sir_peanuts:speaking of which, which would be the least powerful bus?
(i might need to have a separate thread for this!)
before this thread i would have said scania, it's a feeling, really. constipated feel, even on 518 they never go high rev.
Yeah depends on whether the BC wants to speed or not. Some of these Mk3s, although they can speed on the expressways, but if the BC wants to keep it steady, they cant realise their full potential. SBS781E is 1 BNDEP Mk3 that can speed, but not as fast as the ex-Sv 89e Mk3s.Originally posted by SBS3625D:That doesn't do justice to the MKIII. It really depends on the BC. So far, MKIIIs with the optimum tuning (I feel) include 815S, 850P and a number of other MKIIIs. These MKIIIs can really burn the road if the BC wants.
89 MKIIIs! The ultimate MKIII devils.Originally posted by SBS 9631X:Yeah depends on whether the BC wants to speed or not. ZF gearboxes are tuned to give a high acceleration. Tibs was smart to place ZF gearboxes on Dennis Lance, making it a good chiongster on the roads.Originally posted by 566117:i somehow feel that ZF usually has better acceleration than Voith, juz my opinion only.
