You can't really say that. Singapore buses have automatic transmission, whilst some cars have manual transmission. Indefinitely, an auto gearbox switches gear faster than a manual gearbox, and that fact allows buses to overtake cars just when the light turns green. But not for long lah.Originally posted by Volvo MK4:as for 2811P, i've seen it out accelerate a car, which is quite a feat!
I'll still attribute it to drivers lah. More like the car driver is not in a rush.Originally posted by Oceane:You can't really say that. Assuming if both drivers of the bus and car step at the pedal with the same force, the bus driver need to just step on the accelerator and the gear switches by itself.Originally posted by SBS3625D:I'll still attribute it to drivers lah. More like the car driver is not in a rush.

Car driver, however, (assuming if it's manual transmission) needs to step on clutch, uses hand to switch gear, then step on the accelerator.
Guess that delay of switching gears for a manual transmission makes a car lose to a auto gearbox bus when the light just turns green. But manual transmission also got it's own benefits lah.![]()
DM3500 uses the D10HA with a output of 285bhp. Not sure about the torque, but it should be not bad too.Originally posted by Volvo MK4:ah. you just reminded me. may i ask what is the eng horsepower and torque for the DM3500? thanks
My bad.Originally posted by Volvo MK4:"D10HA"
okay thanks for the info, but shouldnt it be DH10A? ive seen it on some webby before as DH10A, but it did not state the horsepower. still, thanks anyway. im guessing the torque should be around the range of a O405, maybe more or less, but should be around there
No . Slightly more than a Merz , if you are talking abt SBST's merc in comparison. SBST's Merz engine pumps out at 890Nm . The DH10A shld do better than that . its a DH10A btw , not D10HA .Originally posted by SBS3625D:My bad.
As for torque, should be less than the 0405's. Not sure not sure.
More of the car drivers are not flooring the pedal.Petrol powered car can easily outrun DM3500 my friendOriginally posted by Volvo MK4:agree. but DM3500's are one of a kind. they have excellent acceleration. well thats before the got the yellow seat treatment
i think sbst limited the accel and top speed of those things, as they seem slower compared to red seat ones.
as for 2811P, i've seen it out accelerate a car, which is quite a feat!
Outstanding torque yes.Originally posted by matrix5566:Do ur agree tat Leyland olympian dd buses hav "power" first auto gear? its much faster den volvo olympian and super olympian...
i love MK4DMs on S27! damn fast!Originally posted by sir_peanuts:another sub-question... which bus is best suited to expresssway travel?
2 thumbs up to that!Originally posted by sinicker:i love MK4DMs on S27! damn fast!
In SG any bus that can reach beyind 60 is good for highways,Whats the use of ahving 285/300 hp but speed limited till 55-60 only right?Originally posted by sir_peanuts:is DAF suited for 985? or would O405 be better?
DAF is better on the expressway as compared to the O405s.Originally posted by sir_peanuts:is DAF suited for 985? or would O405 be better?
