Would u prefer a bus to be on schedule or on frequency?
On Schedule: Bus captains follows the bus timetable as much as possible. I believe both SMRT and SBS Transit uses this system for their bus operations.
On Frequency: A dynamic bus timetable, so that the timing between each bus in is kept same to avoid long waiting times due to brunching.
e.g 8 minutes between bus 1 and bus 2, 9 minutes between bus 2 and 3, 8 minutes between bus 3 and 4, etc...
A situation which this might take place is when a bus captain has to take MC, and theres no one to cover for him. If the bus company enforce the bus captains to follow "On schedule", there will be a bus missing from the deployment, thus leading to double waiting time for some passengers. On the other hand, if the bus company enforce the bus captains to follow "On frequency", some passengers who waits for a bus at a specific time might miss their bus, but all passengers who wait for the bus will have similar average waiting times.
Which would u prefer? and why?
However, OCC for SBST works, not for SMRT. I waited 40mins for some bus service who had a driver taking MC, the first bus came after 25 minutes due to the "missing" bus who's driver took mc, and it was packed to the door. Had to wait another 15 minutes before being able to board.Originally posted by sBs_boy:U seems to be comparing Singapore System and HongKong system..
Both ways got their pros and cons.
Personally, i prefer On Schedule. u mentioned that if one bus is missing, there will be double waiting time. i guess, that would be in the past barhx ? with the help of OCC, long waiting time for buses has been cut down.
Not working? You gotta be kidding meOriginally posted by XiaoTaro:However, OCC for SBST works, not for SMRT. Anyway, is the HK system frequency based?

SMRT dosent have operators who help to ADJUST the timetable when a driver is on leave and theres no one to replace him?Originally posted by carbikebus:Not working? You gotta be kidding meYou got drive SMRT Buses b4?SBST BCs are prone to use the AVMS thing,Little bit problem call OCC,Bus no pick up also call OCC,Thats why
i dont think so.. cos my regular 190 in the morning has this habit of disappearing some days then reappearing again..Originally posted by XiaoTaro:SMRT dosent have operators who help to ADJUST the timetable when a driver is on leave and theres no one to replace him?
