"This bus should not be on the road"

  STOMPer Steven Lim found two things disturbing yet interesting about this bus.
  
  He took these photos at about 9.15am on 18 Oct and sent them in an email to STOMP today (1 Nov).
  
  "You can see the bus is tilted to the right dangerously. Is it safe? Is the suspension spoilt and not replaced?
  
  "You can observe that the tyre of the bus has worn off. Why is it still being used? SBS saving costs?" he asked.
  
  "With the current increase in fares, how could SBS be overlooking such issues. Safety can be compromised with higher fares?" the STOMPer asked.
  
  Steven said he wrote to SBS Transit.
  
  "I appreciate that SBS has taken a serious view on this matter and replied on my concerns. I understand that a strict maintenance regime is in place for all buses," he said.
  
  "However, I still strongly feel that when this clearly visual obvious situation has arisen, the bus driver on duty should be given the rights and authority not to drive the vehicle as it poses a hazard to commuters and other road users."

  i have seen a few buses, especially merc, tilting to one side. maybe because of suspension?

  It would be a more serious case if a Nissan has a suspension problem, because, usually leaf springs shouldn't go out of place, the whole leaf spring suspension (which is basically layers of metal held together) has to be replaced.

  aiyah, at least SBST has shown a lot of improvement.
  
  if dey take the bus off service because of this problem, pple sure kpkb why the bus so long haven come one.

  Busted suspension might be a possibility..but quite rare occurence leh..Even if the suspension is spoilt, it's most probably the damper's fault..because when there's no hydraulic fluid in the dampers, it won't be able to support the weight of the vehicle and it will tilt to one side..but busted dampers should be easy to spot if the bus is parked overnight at the depot what..If the next day driver collect bus and spot a pool of hydraulic fluid on the ground underneath the bus, then he would have guessed something's wrong what..

  Ok..so if there are buses that tilts to the right and other buses that tilts to the left, then most probably is suspension's problem liao..

  SBS1864T's suspension is worse than this when comes to the tilting(when it was on Sv 113)
  
  It happened for a few times.
  
  The whole bus really tilted to one side where it covered some portions of the wheel.
