Must have somehow lost in my memory about the LO3X here, thanks for the tip on the button configs.
My fav MAN 24.310 is 1,2,3,D,N,R :D :D
AVD1 is 3,D,N,R

Some notes:
1) Max gear reached - 4th gear, so its assumable for now its a 4HP gearbox.
2) Thanks to SBS9818A for his clarification on the gearbox issue. The bus is using a cannibalised ZF 4HP500 gearbox from a Leyland Olympian 3-axle, most likely to be SBS 9149Y which has been scrapped.Anyway, do have a ride on this bus. Quite powerful and nice. Especially since it does not sound anywhere like SBS 9888Y. ngjy22 will upload a video of it later. Stay tuned.

To my guess the Gearbox might be a ZF 4HP592C

C if im not wrong, denotes the ability to synchronise with the CAN bus system network. If VSO has CAN system, perhaps the gearbox that he mentioned can be fitted. Not very sure abt it tho

It's gonna be a long guessing game for this kinda weird ZF gearbox.

It isn't an Ecomat-II, there isn't the distinctive 2 stage retarder which an Ecomat-II has, instead it seems more like a VO if you listen properly.
Should be a ZF4HP500.....its the most practical answer.

But how can a VSO engine go with a ZF 4HP500??

Why not leh?
I think the torque rating...
If I not wrong the torque rating for 4HP500 is not enough for the VSO. A 590/592 would do. HK uses 5HP590 for 3ASV for a comparison.

So I guessed....but then I don't know all the figures.
Then could it be a ZF5HP590/2? Since SBST does use this type. I've yet to hear of any bus using the ZF4HP590/2.

HK 3ASV some use of ZF 4HP590 some use ZF 5HP590

Referring to SBST ones....my guess is based on the fact that it makes more sense to fit the VSO with existing stores.
Would well be...
Based on logistics view of a company, buying a new gearbox from a company off the shelve would be an expensive business. First to look for is the stores; what is compatible and what is not.
For example, if they found a 6 speed ZF in the store (lets presume for the B9TL as spares), and the rating fits, they have a few more of that as spares, then they would be able to change it on.
If they found the spare 5 speed meant for 9888Y, then they would also have an option to fit it in.
If they have a Voith as spare, then it would have been changed on and nothing special would be seen.
To a company, logistics and cost is foremost and important. Buy one gearbox ship over do all the things, why not search around for existing parts...

Don't think so, think its yet another trial by amdep.
Question is, 9888Y uses a 4 or 5 speed? I'm inclined to think that its a 4 speed.
This is what I really couldn't answer, for the question asked by "billmf" at Youtube.
Is it ZF 5HP590??

I wonder.
But why should there be a trial at this time for this bus?
I don't think so.
If they wanted a trial, they would have done it early on.
Moreover they already have 9888Y as an example to study on.

for me it looks like a 5HP590.

9806J sounded more like a 4 speed. Gear changes and the interior, exterior sounds (minus the raidator sound) like a VO (if you hear properly).

If the ZF5 is a ZF4 with additional overdrive, then the problem answers itself. Taking the example of the 4 speed voith MKIVs, the gearbox can be tweaked to make the last gear tight.

Hard to say, amdep seems to love doing werid modifications like 3554A having Cummins engine and Allison gearbox, ZF Mercs (3899E was the guniea pig) and the Voith Mercs.

But all those were from existing stores...no?
So if that's the case, I'm more inclined to guess its a ZF5 because I have not heard of any SBST buses having a ZF4HP590/2.

haven taken a Voith MKIV DM in my life, onli ZF DM MKIV. gonna hunt down for 903X on 88 on one day in this coming 2-month-long holidays

Actually a Voith Mark IV DM is quite similar to a typical DM3500.

That's a bus I recommended along with 894M.
