departure timings from clementi: 07:14am 07:29am 07:44am 07:58am 08:07am
arrival timings at clementi: 07:38am 07:49am 07:59am 08:10am 08:17am
most likely the 7.49am bus and the 7.59am bus bunched together. not forgetting that the massive jam at whitley rd due to the detour this morning may have caused the delay.
You are right about the frequency of Service 156. Frequency can hit as long as 20 minutes a bus during off-peak hours (PM) and even peak hours (PM) around the 6 plus timing in the direction of Sengkang to Clementi. I have raised my concerns with SBST but as usual they said the frequency is adequate.Originally posted by dfs24:As a frequent user of Sv156 for the past seven years, frequent meaning using it at least once per day, I would say that it is not really uncommon to experience the situation you mentioned.
I have waited for 30mins plus minutes at the interchange for 156. Quite a few times.
The timing for Sv156 can vary a lot in the morning. As long as it leaves Sixth Ave towards Sengkang later than 6.50am, then it will hit the massive jam at Bukit Timah road due to Nanyang Girls, Hwa Chong Institution, Raffles Girls Primary School National Junior College and Nanyang Primary. Near Nanyang Girls, a lot of students going to RGS will get on. Then after it slowly crawls past Adam road, then it would be SCGS that cause another massive jam. After reaching the bus stop pass Raffles town club, the RGS girls get off, and then a whole lot of people going to RJC gets on. Then at RJC everyone gets off, and then when you reach Bishan, there will be RI jam to deal with. So an hour could easily be added to the usual journey time. I guess for the return direction to Clementi, the main area which slows down the bus is at Whitely Road, and of course Bukit Timah Road.
In my opinion, the frequency for Sv156 has been reduced, and is getting worse each year. E.g. I just came home, and 3 Sv151, 3 Sv153, 3 Sv105, and 3 Sv190, 2 Sv700 and 2 Sv960 passed me before Sv156 came.
This also happen to Svc 174 heading towards the city between 6.45pm to 8pm. Cos no bus back to BNL..Originally posted by Zilchster:You are right about the frequency of Service 156. That's always the shitty response SBST likes to dispense.Originally posted by Zilchster:You are right about the frequency of Service 156. The problem is not isolated to just the MKIVs, although it is more likely to afflict them.Originally posted by sBs_boy:Fanbelt problem. Nothing to do with tyres.
One thing to note is that this is a pretty common problem among the MK4s (exclude DM3500) when the depots dont really take care of their buses.
No point raising it with SBST. If they feel that it is sufficient to cater to the demand, they won't do anything about it. I tried a few times before, but have since given up on that idea already. I have resigned to the fact that the demand is just not there to justify increasing the frequency. I sure miss those days when the max waiting time was 15mins.Originally posted by Zilchster:You are right about the frequency of Service 156. Sometimes during afternoon non peak hours the bus can be full to the door with students on PIE towards Sengkang.Originally posted by corebooster:y
156 is a pretty high density bus in the morning as stated by 1 of our forumer, due to the fact there are schools in the stretch of road in bukit timah. its onli bus which goes to sixth ave frm clementi too. its also the onli bus to go to Police Kins Training camp frm clementi. its also the only bus to go to Old Police Academy frm clementi. it also goes to CHIJ Toa Payoh frm clementi. also goes to Ministry of Youth and Development. den Bishan onwards.
i cant believe they reduced the frequency. it is totally a shock to me.
hope i wun wait another 30mins tml. or i may contemplate to take 154 in future.
I do hope HGDEP or BBDEP can spare some DDs to 156. Well surely since both depots love Volvos they might give some SP VO3x to 156. At least it can help with passenger volume although traffic jams seems unavoidable due to massive number of cars around school areas during the so-called "school peak-hours".Originally posted by SBS9889U:Sometimes during afternoon non peak hours the bus can be full to the door with students on PIE towards Sengkang.
Cos of Sixth Ave, unlikely to have DD...Originally posted by Oceane:I do hope HGDEP or BBDEP can spare some DDs to 156. Well surely since both depots love Volvos they might give some SP VO3x to 156. 156 is the only SBST service that serves Sixth Ave. The only consolation is that you are guaranteed a seat almost everytime you take Sv156.Originally posted by corebooster:yeah.
due to the fact im working oppesite CJC.
and staying near boon lay interchange.
my usual trip will be
straight 154 frm boon lay. but currently need to squeeze with Jurong Sec students and Ngee ann students, not too keen on this trip
take 99 to clementi, sunbian bring my sis to school, den take 156. was pretty optmistic about this, coz when i took 156, few months ago, de frequency was good. now. i cant say the same
take 174 den change 985. fastest route, but no place to sit. so i rather wait for 156.
i did bring this up to the customer service counter at clementi interchange. they just told me, they are waitin for the next svc bus to enter the interchange. they apologise for any inconvience caused. i ask them whether can make the frequency better, they say they will feedback to their management.

I doubt it will happen. The demand is just not there.Originally posted by Oceane:I do hope HGDEP or BBDEP can spare some DDs to 156. Since last December every weekend I take 156 from Bishan to Sengkang. I've done it 3 times and all 3 times I get a seat.Originally posted by dfs24:156 is the only SBST service that serves Sixth Ave. The only consolation is that you are guaranteed a seat almost everytime you take Sv156.
They can always try S-Shift. Like after morning peak crossover to other services that use DDs (Like 99 or 198 for BBDEP and 62, 87, 89 for HGDEP).Originally posted by dfs24:I doubt it will happen. The demand is just not there.
I take 156 everyday during evening peak excluding weekends, and till today, I have never stood in the bus before, this is for the bus towards Clementi.Originally posted by Oceane:Since last December every weekend I take 156 from Bishan to Sengkang. I've done it 3 times and all 3 times I get a seat.
Well but thats during off-peak, Saturdays.
Express 502 too.Originally posted by brotherchen1982:Three vehicles collide, causing one hour delay

But still the 10 mins freq on schedule would be enforced soonOriginally posted by dfs24:I doubt it will happen. The demand is just not there.
For Sv156, it has high demand for only short sectors of the route. E.g. From Nanyang Girls to Raffles Town Club, and from RJC to J8. So it really is not feasible to put DD. Also, I understand that for evening peak, there are 2 down routes from Raffles Town Club. How low can demand be? I have taken empty buses, meaning I am the only passenger on the bus, from Clementi to Sixth Ave a few times.Originally posted by Oceane:They can always try S-Shift. Not required for all the services right? only a certain percentage if I remember correctly. If only they would deploy darts and up the frequency, but it just won't happen.Originally posted by sbst275:But still the 10 mins freq on schedule would be enforced soon
