Strong paint smell onboard bus

i travelled on SBS178Y svc 54 today and noticed the back seats cover and certain potions of the ceiling including the A/C filter has been painted with gloss enamel paint. This type of paint is similar to the ones used to paint the house doors and emit a strong and terrible odour which can cause health problems to passengers who are vulnerable to such toxic smells; esp the elderly, kids and asthmatic people.
anyone experienced similar incidents onboard other buses?
I believe there's alternative type of paint that can be used for painting the bus interior without causing such discomfort and potential health hazards.

The refurbished 0405s lor...
The smell will go away sometime...just endure lor. You can't expect them to use "odourless" Nippon paint??? -

there are some on 154 buses.
esp the 1 with the ex-7pm drama, shou zhu.
but after sitting in there for awhile...de smell no more ler.

not just serv 54 buses, most refurb WA 0405 from AM got the smell. somehow SBS 87 B (the voith bus) smells like a new new B9TL when it was just refurbished IMO, not at all like the other refurb buses.

Yup. Also recently noticed that all the 0405 buses in AMDEP all being refurbished. Be it seats or the floor. Why refurbish again? Are they being given few more years of lifespan extension?

change the backseats cover just like the other buses la. or wait till the day when a pax demand compensation from SBST for damaging their health? remember there are people who are suffering from respiratory diseases that makes them very sensitive to such toxic smells and may even cause a relapse.Originally posted by ^tamago^:No choice.
there's also many other types of (commercial) paint with different uses and properties/specifications available in the market and these are not available in the oridinary hardware shops we can find. -

Same thing happened to my dad's car. It was after my dad got it back from a repair shop. There is this paint smell and he said that it was newly painted and it would go off in a week. The car became 'NAC' as I need to open the windows for fresh air. Then, 1 week later, the smell just go away and the car revert back to OAC.

many customers (esp commercial jobs) nowadays expect their renovation contractors to minimise air pollutants such as use of carpet glue with strong toxic smells, solvents, chemicals, etc. look at T3 for example, many areas are still under renovation but i can hardly smell unpleasant chemicals. i think the authorities also played a part towards minimise the use of toxic smell products.Originally posted by choww:Ya..That paint smell super strong. i find that the smell of those new buses or newly refurbished buses are generally still within acceptable limits. but the use of gloss enamel paints for the airconditioned bus interior is simply unacceptable. -
