Nice topic to discuss, but the topic should have been generally named "Overseas Buses" instead.
I wasn't even a member of this forum when I went to Shanghai (and Suzhou, which is 100 km from Shanghai) together with my father's colleagues and immediate families for a holiday.
I have picked only a few best photos for illustration since I do not have better ones.
a) This is the coach that I took while I was in China for my holiday. I'll post the rego of the coach I took a little bit later on and tell you how the regos are being read.
Shanghai/Category A/S3663
b) A tram (or in this case, a tour bus) is what transports people from place to place. This tram service runs from the Bund to (forgot place).
c) The desto of a typical public bus in Shanghai. This is how you read the desto.
kong tiao (=leng qi) 920 (means AIRCON 920)
They put the route details on the side desto (refer to below).
d) A typical desto of a public bus. Service 42 runs from Guangdong Road to the Shanghai sports centre (reading from desto).
What I want you to take note of is the one circled red. Shanghai public buses do have their own TV Mobile.

Top: 03/12/2005. A rapidly disappearing sight in Japan; non-WAB buses. Model and make need confirmation. I guess by now it might have already retired and scrapped.
Bottom: 02/12/2005. WAB, the new trend that popped up in a rapid-aging society. I guess Singapore is also following the trend but at a slower rate. The bus should be Mitsubishi, again needs confirmation. -

the space above the front wheels can be fitted with seats. I just got back from London yesterday. a london DD. They only have full ad at the rear currently. On the side, the ad are not fully covered. I like this ad..

AVBE61 (2007 Volvo B9TL/Enviro 500) on Route 307 at Des Voeux Rd Central, no flash used, the reflection on the rego is due to the reflection of the sunlight on and from the Bank of China building. Photo taken 30th Nov 2007. -

Make: JAC An Hui, Location: Weld Quay
Make: Dong Feng, Body: MTrans, Location: Weld Quay
Make: Higer, Location: Sungai Nibong
Make: Sheng Long, Location: Weld Quay
Steering and dash of a Sheng Long bus. To the left of the steering is the gear selector. The number will change as the gears shift. The bus use an Allison gearbox and is my favourite of the 3 'long' buses. -

is supposed to be a Volvo B12B from taiwan
it has 425HP engine, which is probably the most powerful there, as so far, the closest that has come to this is a 420HP MAN bus. -
Which bus' body is made by Gemilang? I see that Penang has 2 bus operators now. I know one bus company which has a red and white livery (simmilar to SBS pre-2000 livery) and the other one is Rapid Penang. Since when these buses are introduced? AFAIK, none of the buses I showed had a Gemilang bodywork. There are several bus companies in the State of Pulau Pinang, which comprises of Penang Island and Seberang Perai (formerly Province Wellesley). The red and white buses are from Transitlink. Although they have services into Penang Island, their base is actually at Bukit Mertajam. The bus network of Rapid Penang covers the whole of Penang Island as well as nearby towns on the mainland such as Butterworth and Perai.
Before Rapid Penang, the largest bus operator on the island was the Penang Yellow Bus Co. However, after operating for 58 years, it suddenly stopped running on 1 Jan 2004 leaving hundreds of commuters stranded as the bus network fell into disarray. Attempts by the State Government to improve the bus network failed so they turned to the Federal Government seeking a revamp similar to what Kuala Lumpur went through. The Federal Government agreed and so on 31 July 2007, Rapid Penang was launched.
The remains of the Penang Yellow Bus can still be seen on the road. The buses now operate as the Milan Bus Company. However, their passengers have dwindled as commuters would prefer the new and modern fleet of Rapid Penang. -

The long black vent at the rear of the bus is the aircon vent? Never remember it exist in CMB's Atlanteans...

That's right. The whole bus is air-conditioned. The air-con blows from the rear and is strong enough to cool the whole saloon.
