  what makes you think these are soon chow products? the second bus is a SKS-bodied Scania K420EB.

  IMM one closed down long time ago. There's a new outlet at 'The Cathay'. I got my copy there

  Thats right. It used to be located at Victoria St opp Bras Basah Complex but had since been relocated at North Bridge Rd opp National Library. I got this book there. Another branch can be found at the Capitol/Cathay basement 1.

  most of the private buses in Singapore use SC bodywork..but i find that why private bus like to have so many steps de..very high somemore..i like low floor better elderlies agree..

  many of these private buses you mention are coaches. with a high floor, the interior floor can be flat throughout and without any obstructing tyres. More seats can be added in and there is less restrictions to the seating configurations. There is also more room to accomodate the bus engine and pax also experience less engine noise. Also, there are luggage or goods compartments below the floor boards. I know a coach driver who place his bicycle inside the compartment so that when he park his bus at the heavy vehicle park, he can cycle back!

  sorry for digressing... but i get reminded of my pri sch sch bus
  
  it was just like one of the pics, an old merc. it had bells in it so i wondered if it was ever used as a public bus in its early days.
  
  no pic of it, sorry. but wonder if anyone has and if it's built by soon chow.

  close to all private buses are high floor..ive never seen low floor private buses before..with the exception of sentosa, funvee and hippotours

  Soon Chow is a company with over 80 years of experience while SCAuto has only about 20+ Years.

  referring to pg 82, how come the Volvo B9TL are assembled by Soon Chow? i thought its assembled by ComfortDelgro Engineering and all SBS buses are assembled by their own in-house dept?

  To facilitate earlier push out dates for the B9TLs. Did you feel that the B9TLs are pushed out at a rather fast rate especially during the IMF period?
