2 new TIBS (MB O405 hispano) TIB425R & TIB426M did 169 at start.
1st 2 aircon buses in TIBS fleet (TIB279X & TIB280R) appears on 167, DAF Hispano (TIB391D-TIB424T) appears on 950(old), 951 & 952.

as for 279 and 280 they were new new 950 in a original AIR-CON hino bus order in 1988. they ordered ten such bus to start new service 950 then in 1988.
the DAF side i know 14 buses were ordered first for 951. so 391 to 404 were new new 951 confirmed. the rest were mixed 950 n 952 deployment. this happened late 1988.
i will post more here to discuss new new original deployments with u folks. so mind my flooding hor.

I am not sure about 427, but I was working in AMDEP (as temp diesel entry clerk) when i personally saw 425 and 426 delivered on that day, and personally saw 426 go out to do 854 after all the pre-flight checks for two weeks. So 426 is definitely new new AMDEP. As for 425, I think it went to KJDEP for route service. 425 was rego'ed TIB0000W in AMDEP during its preflight check period (about a week or two - pun intended by the technicians? W is never a valid rego check digit) before the official rego was slapped on it. As for 427, I do believe it is also new new AMDEP. At least 428 was. 428 served on svc 854 on its first route day.
As for 279 and 280.. you really really have to check your records man... really. They really started new new on service 167. Service 950 is not even existent when 279 and 280 were rolled into service
279 and 280 were subsequently switched over to 850.. then shortly after that to 852. It is only then when service 950 was inaugurated. And even then, service 852 on and off still have 279 and/or 280 on it running as AC buses (with its aircon turned off and windows opened at other times in other services). It was then finally decided that 279 and 280 be moved to service 950, and the move was officially announced in poster in all 852 bus stops. -
I only know of 3 Mk4 DM perms on 16.

Hmm back then I stated that both 425 and 426 served on 854... today I only remember 426 on 854, not sure about 425. I suppose memories back then are much fresher. -

Yep 4 years on, buses are 4 years older. I remember joyriding on the U31RCN's on 854 with my mate when they were first launched close to 15 years ago, taking 154 from Ngee Ann Poly after lectures to Eunos and waiting for one to bring us back to Yishun. And skipping the NAC HT238's in between Now the RCN's are almost on the verge of being scrapped... how time flies. 5 more years from now and the first TIBS O405's are going to be due for scrap too. -
Then 4 years back we had loads of Scania striders on 178, now all we have are UDs and a lone Scania. But still quite nostalagic. Yeah... now their interior is dusty and dirty. I suppose they dont clean the interior except for sweeping the floor. Full interior cleanups did happen twice though. The first time was when TIBS took over the BPJ services. They didnt have enough new new buses to go to 5/75/171/177/179/184/343/344 etc etc (not enough new O405's) so they plucked a good number of UD's and Hino's over e.g. some of the buses in the TIB265K to TIB310M range to go over. The second full interior cleanup happened during the SARS period. More as an effort to convince the public that the buses are clean and hygenic I think. I remember seeing TIB1126Y on 812 looking sparkling new when it was already a few months into service.
Service 178 was one of Woodland's premium services 20 years ago, as was 852 for Yishun. Now both are third class citizens. -

You could blame 950 and WLDEP for svc. 178. Although they are short of buses they could make frequent cameos of Scania on 178. Partly the reason. Dennis Lances hardly match up to the O405's in terms of ride comfort. Lances are the lowest ranked buses in AMDEP other than the UD's. But it is more than that. Last time 852 had the best buses of their time (HT238's). The number of buses in 852 now is 10 or less..... and waiting time is sometimes horrible. In terms of the current "secondary" buses in TIBS/SMRT, I rank them in the following order:
1. WA Strider Scania
2. Elbo Scania
3. WA Setanta DAF
4. Volgren Lance
5. Volgren Hino
6. DM Lance
7. UD
However on some days I may actually still prefer to board a UD than a Lance simply because a UD has many many more seats than a Lance. I rank the UD's lowest simply because they are old and unmaintained... when they are new, I think they can challenge even the DAF's. -
Ok, going back to topic, I just saw a post from the olden times. Someone posted that TIB641H was seen on TIBS 59 and 866 in 1999.

Just checked my records and confirmed that 1198 was perm 811 for only a brief period of time before it was perm 804. And I can confirm that 1163 was under AMDEP for a short while before it went WL; still remember my brother taking it on 812 to attend a pasar malam at Yishun Central. (I asked him what bus he took, he replied, "New new one. TIB 1163 P." )
And I shall repeat again... 1220, 1237, 1238 and 1241 all left 811 after 1205 came in. All other slots were replaced by rigids.
It's interesting to note that 2 bendies, 1174 and 1201 were initially given to 980, but soon 1174 was given to 804, while 1201 was given to 851. It was only later that TIB 1201 M was given to 806. -
