Administrative officer Junko, 44, said this man claiming to be a "famous Geylang gangster" boarded Tibs Service 67 this morning, refused to pay the fare and kept scolding the driver in Hokkien swear words.
The STOMPer said this happened when she was on the first bus from Choa Chu Kang Interchange.
"The man got up the bus at Geylang. He was barefoot but not drunk," she told STOMP this morning (Dec 27).
"He told the driver in Hokkien that he did not want to pay. The driver replied in Hokkien 'cannot'.
"Then he asked: 'si mi buay sai' (why cannot?).
"And he started scolding the driver - in Hokkien swear words, something about the mother.
"After that, he started punching the fare machine. He kept punching the machine while the driver kept asking him to stop.
"The man then took off his shirt to show off his tattoos, saying he's a famous gangster and that all of Geylang know him."
The STOMPer said the driver decided to leave him alone. The man went to the back and sat down.
"Everyone in the bus was scared because he was really abusive," she said. "If he really wants a free ride, he could have asked nicely."
