Taxi collides into bus at bus stop
Cheryl was at home last night (Jan 11) when she heard a loud crash below her block at 11pm.
Upon rushing down, the 28-year-old told STOMP she saw that a taxi had collided into the back of a bus near Block 223D, Compassvale Road.
She then took this picture and sent it to STOMP in an MMS last night (Jan 10).
"I decided to go down to have a look. Many people had crowded around.
"An ambulance came first, followed by two police motorcycles.
"Oil was leaking from the taxi.
"The taxi-driver was seated inside and the ambulance medics moved him from taxi to the ambulance.
"He looked like he was in shock.
"The bus driver came down and asked for help to guide on-coming traffic," she said.
According to Cheryl, it took two hours for the scene of the accident to be cleared.
Sales executive Hon, 26, was passing through the area at midnight when he saw the taxi after the accident.
He took a picture of the taxi and sent it to STOMP in an MMS today (Jan 11).
"The front of the taxi was badly damaged and part of the bumper fell off.
"Two traffic policemen further down the road closed off the road.
Hon feels that bus stops should have safety barriers or bollards.
"All the bus stops should have a safety barrier in case of accidents so the vehicle will not crash into bus stop," he said.
STOMP contacted the Police for comments and this is their reply:
"The Police received a call at 11pm yesterday about an accident between a bus and a taxi along Compassvale Road near Block 203B.
"Before police's arrival, the taxi driver was conveyed to Changi General Hospital conscious, as he complained about neck pain.
"No one else was injured.
"The Police are still investigating the cause of the accident," they said.
