But even with intercooler it does not mean the engine would not catch fire also, and once again, the CRBs are to proof also...
Intercooler isnt there to cool the engine. Lols. Infact it can make the engine hotter, cause intercooler = more air for fuel to burn. More fuel is burnt = higher temperature. Thats why normally its super high turbo charged engines that will catch fire first than NA engines.

TIB1163P 'brokedown' when it almost reached WRI at around 11.15pm. The bus approaches the traffic light just before WRI and stops, however the engine died as well. BC tried frantically to restart the engine, managed to restart once, but engine was half power when he jams the trottle, dhen it died again.
Cause : Bus ran out of fuel. ![]()
I waited with my friend to talk to the BC, dhen waited for mechanic to come. Turns out bus really ran out of fuel. ![]()

The previous night duty pump attendant sure in trouble unless the fuel tank leak

Self expose: I was with Scanialuver that time, yeah, there were no leaks visible around the bus (well, anything inside we will not know) but basically the mechanic used a safety cone with cut open top to funnel some diesel inside the tank at the front carriage and the other mechanic went to take a silver cylinder from the engine (by using a cloth to press/screw it out) and poured some more diesel inside. The diesel were kept in jerry cans on the recovery truck (Nissan Cabstar).
Mechanic first checked the temperature and oil level before commencing procedures as above. Bus was able to move off 15 minutes after they arrived.
SBS9618K [AM 166] brokedown 1 bus-stop b4 Dover MRT station at around 0845 hrs in the direction of AMK. Desto off

That's when Service 700A bendies come handy in time to come to act as a "saviour" in the case of any breakdowns for Service 190 and 960.. Celebrate life with SMRT by experiencing such a wonderful breakdown.. Well done SMRT...

Does daily maintanence have its point in this too?
Yes, no one wants accidents... But if the tires are regrooved one less time, and tires monitored by BC before every trip, I bet it will not happen so easily...
Cost saving=Accidents/Delays happen more frequently.

Cant really say bo bian. Haha. Tire explosion/blowout can be prevented thru thorough tire inspection for sidewall damage, cracks and cuts etc. Maybe theres inadequate inspectors for all the buses' tires?
SBS916J (HGDEP 27) brokedown at the bus-stop at Hg ave 6 (towards Hg int) at around 12pm plus but brokedown statue unknown. I only that the Bus driver was relaxing inside the bus...

Inner tyres are beyond SL random inspection of tyres,Its the technician duty.Might be other factor such as potholes/nails/screws..I bet majority BCs/SLs wont have the time to inspect tyres before every trip. With SMRT depend on Gajah Tunggal over Michelin i see no diffrences on inspection by the SLs or not.The tyres just suck big times
Hmm I see, guess you have a point...
GT Radials just cannot grip at times, ok, its true to say that in rainy weather all kind of tires will slip, from the best Continental to Michellin to GT Radial, but it seems that GT Radial, under dry condtions, can slip too when heavy braking is applied!
There were several times when loud screeching can be heard when a GT Radial tire equipped bus goes over paint and concrete surfaces, while another bus with Michellin and braking about the same power would not have any problem gripping!
