Maybe like SMRT, forgot to refuel.![]()
SBS 8448R (if I remember correctly) on sv. 174 broke down along Jurong Road, towords Boon Lay, yesterday at 11:10 PM. There was a rumbling noise from the engine and the bus refused to accelerate. When the BC stopped, the engine cut out and the whole bus plunged into darkness. Engine coudn't restart. Pax, myself included, were quite annoyed and there was a general grumbling. The BC seemed to be taking forever to drive the bus and it was late in the night, not to mention at a gloomy, deserted place. Luckily, the next bus arrived in just 5 minutes. Yeah! Good 'ol Leyland Olympian! Hope the BC didn't have too wait too long for the recovery truck. :-P
SBS600U blew its engine today at Upp Thomson Rd. Smoke seen from the left. Pax told to alight.

The only way they can solve this problem is to cancel their orders for K230UB and buy low floor buses that are flat all the way to the back.

They can also demand that the drivers do not use the handbrake unless parking/alighting passengers.
Step on footbrake, release handbrake then accelerate?
That is the most possible idea I could think of...

Most drivers just release handbrake without stepping on the brakes.
Proper way should be step on brake first then release handbrake, then step on accelerator.

for auto transmission vehicles, you release e footbrake on D gear, the bus will just move unless the driver bothers to switch to N but it isn't safe as the road could possibly be uneven
