Accident or Breakdown Thread 2008

Today I saw 3 breakdowns...
1)SBS560B brokedown at bus-stop after Alexandra Fire station... desto off. Assume cameo on 51 [SL 502]
2)SBS8014J brokedown at bus-stop outside SP admission office...
3)CSS203X brokedown just before blk 303 bus-stop along jurong town hall road

LO3x does not have power steering, so need more energy to control the steering wheel
When the LO3x is fully loaded, it would take lots of energy to turn.. lol

Have power steering la.. Only nt as much as VO3x. Now they had started to fixed the steering wheel. -

I dun think is the steering wheel. We need to also look into the size of the route and at what speed the truck travelling at. Any DD would had the same result when they met this accident. With the comments above, I assume that VO2x would turn 360 degrees when the truck hit it. -

I don't think steering has anything to do with the crash. If you mean it might be because the BCs can't turn the wheel fast enough, watch how the 179 BCs maneuver the LO3x at speed when entering and exiting NTU. You'll know see that most of the BCs can spin the steering wheel very fast even though it's heavy!

Eh, from the newspaper reports, they seem to mean that the cement truck toppled and therefore causing the bus to topple...so i don't think the driver of the bus have any time to react at all.

The only famous topple of a DD was in HK as I could remember, in 2003, a Volvo Olympian 11m (AV253) overturning after the bus captain tried to turn at high speed as he was about to miss an exit. At 70 plus km/h the bus toppled over, causing injuries to the 37 passengers and the BC. Bus was supposed to have been repaired and put back in service...
Another one is early this year when a off service, forgotten what model and make, overturned when swerving to avoid a pedestrain. BC slightly injured.
Ah yeah chickenlittle2, its quite impossible to turn a bus 360 degrees unless its on a display turntable, cos the front will be facing the front again, as in 360 degrees rotation.
It is possible it faces the back after collision, that means 180 degrees...
For heavy vehicles its still difficult...

According to one guy (KP buses also know), on 4 March 2008 got one service 69 single deck bus was karnar damaged at Tampines Int behind the ticket office or bear the bakery there (got bakery meh). windshield cracked and bumper fell off from the bus. I hope is not my fav bus, SBS594D

If dun have he would need to turn dunno how many rounds and cannot even steer. Observe the LO3x these days, you would see improvement on the steering wheel. BC do not need to steer in such a great pain. -

no power steering just means, you need more energy to turn esp when bus is fully loaded... nothing to do w/ rounds of turn -
LO Power steering isn't as good as other buses.You will feel 'heavy' when you make a turn during slow speed

SBS 9572 H on 30 broke down at Sims Ave Just befor Geylang Serai Market..Tyres Puncture....

SBS9195M(133) exit door's sensor 'sot' already. Stucked at Potong Pasir for at least 10minutes. Passengers very unhappy with the waiting time because the bus just branch up with another bus and the whole DD was like packed already due to IT Show. BC try many times to wipe the sensor still cannot close the darn door. He "reset" the whole bus then finally can close.
During the whole situation, BC communicated with the HQ(Mobile insepctor or whatever you call that), and complained the door cannot work, and he is late 30minutes. The worst thing is the HQ called him to finish whole trip even with the back door spoilt. Desto also not flipped and just operated as normal with only front door for exit/boarding.

smt wrong wif sbs2775k ezlink card reader todae. it was on s581. den halfway on the trip where ppl going board e bus, the card reader say out of service. den 2 ppl board e bus. since reader spoil so bc cor dem go sit down.. den these 2 passengers so kind went to pay cash. bc was communicating wif e hq all tis while saying e thing can't work. cant reli hear e conversation well. but few mins ltr, tink he go restart e whole bus den card reader work alr n he called back to hq say working alr. haha. ^^

An unidentified SBS Transit bus was involved in an accident (5 vehicle pile-up) at junction of Old Tampines Road and Loyang Avenue at 3.30pm today resulting in a driver being killed.
