In case your dont know, there will always be at least 1 train disruption or train delay every month. Big or small. i wonder how could they escape and act as if nothing is wrong.Originally posted by service_238:Its not the first time SMRT encountered a train disruption during the morning peak. The first in recent history was Friday 7th October 1997 when a mx train derailed near Toa Payoh Station. Stations between Bishan and Newton were closed.
In a seperate incident a section between Toa Payoh and Newton was closed for goodness knows what reason.
Another incident which happened more recently was Boon Lay - Jurong East.
With so many incidents havent they learnt their lesson? No
Still remembered that one...that time was PSLE and the news reported that one girl who was late for PSLE due to MRT breakdown. News footages also show human jam outside Bishan Station boarding SBS buses doing shuttle services. Its the first MRT breakdown that I can remember clearly.Originally posted by service_238:Its not the first time SMRT encountered a train disruption during the morning peak. Yes.. It was good for them to provide 40 buses for the shuttles instead of ZERO (During the DBG Fire last yr). But 1 thing that SMRT had failed badly is the fact that they tried to cover up on what is happening. I guess, its obvious that they are always using the same old excuse for the media or the people of Singapore. 1 good example where we could see SBST doing better is the incident last year that happened at Outram. By night time, we all know what was the real cause of the train disruption. Unlike this time. I think SMRT had owe us a very good explanation.Originally posted by Oceane:I'm actually quite upset that many people feedbacked to SMRT that bus drivers did not know the route to get from station to station. It makes me wonder if they have the common sense to think before sending letters to ST Forum.
Most of us here know that the East mainly belongs to SBST control and not so of SMRT. In the midst of the disruption, I must say SMRT has actually done a satisfactory enough job by sending down buses on time, however so the drivers did not know the route.
I think not many have the real sense to actually appreciate the efforts of the SMRT drivers that had to rush to the east to help with passenger volumes while they were trying very hard to recognise the roads of the unfamiliar east. I definitely would salute them for their hard work.
I think it's not a problem if anyone disagrees with me; I won't be upset or whatever. I'm just pointing out my opinions. If anyone agrees with me, I congratulate you for being able to differentiate right from wrongs.
Students were told, if there is train disruption during PSLE period, go control station. Taxis will be provided.. hahahaOriginally posted by Scania:Still remembered that one...that time was PSLE and the news reported that one girl who was late for PSLE due to MRT breakdown. Reminds me of how SMRT get passengers to squeeze onto sv 962 when there were train disruption between Woodlands and Sembawang in Dec 06 and April 07.Originally posted by sBs_boy:Yes.. With regards to whether SMRTB in SBST area, if they had know that the BCs are not very familiar with the road area in the eastern part of Singapore, SMRT should at least deploy staffs along the route of the shuttle service so as to direct the drivers. If not, they should at least activate their OCC system. No use claiming in the ZB that they got high tech stuffs onboard their buses and trying to "SHOW" Singaporeans on how these things work. When actual fact, we would all know that it is part of their "Wayang". From this, we could all see the poor planning of SMRT. There is no coordination between SMRTB and SMRT.
Why are you quite upset with it? Personally, I think feedbacking that the drivers did not know the routes was important.Originally posted by Oceane:I'm actually quite upset that many people feedbacked to SMRT that bus drivers did not know the route to get from station to station. Ever since they took over TIBS,all ex-TIBS management staff also behave one kind.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:It shows one thing, SMRT management is not up to it. Their standard has been mediocre ever since they took over TIBS.
I think the best solution for them is to step down and allow a foreign experience competent train operator to take over SMRT.
Bus services, needless to say , hand over to a competent foreign bus company.
In other words, the company SMRT with it's current management should all be looking for new jobs. (Get dissolved better). They are just wasting the taxpayer's money.
I dun care about SMRT trains but if thats the case our bonuses will be more affected.Last year train side got the most compared to buses.Got the cheek to say buses dun make money somemoreOriginally posted by service_238:Its not the first time SMRT encountered a train disruption during the morning peak. If I am not wrong , most former TIBs staffs have left the company just after SMRT took over them.Originally posted by carbikebus:Ever since they took over TIBS,all ex-TIBS management staff also behave one kind.

We also introduced westbound shuttle train services to ferry commuters to Tanah Merah MRT station. The train was travelling on the unaffected stretch of the track and cautious driving was imposed, which meant the train was driven in manual mode of 15kph, instead of the normal average speed of 45kph.

MRT disruption caused by damage to rail grinding vehicle
By Gamar Abdul Aziz, Channel NewsAsia
SINGAPORE : A seven-hour disruption to MRT services on Monday was caused by a locomotive which damaged its rail grinding vehicle (RGV).
SMRT said about 57,000 passengers were affected when train services between Pasir Ris and Tanah Merah stations were disrupted from 5.28 am to 12.45 pm on that day.
SMRT is still investigating why the RGV was damaged.
Theres still a group of them, mostly are arrogant thinking that they own the coOriginally posted by Airbus330Captain:If I am not wrong , most former TIBs staffs have left the company just after SMRT took over them.

Yeah. It happens again and again. Same with election issues.Originally posted by stooper:Ya lor, they think you forget about the incident already.
During the Eunos disruption last year quite little buses were deployed (with few rigids) and people had no choice but to squeeze onto Sv21. End up when 2 Sv21 B9TLs bunched, the first bus was full with standees (Even upper deck also filled with around 20 standing passengers) and the 2nd B9TL filled with standees (Upper deck no standees).Originally posted by off_service:Reminds me of how SMRT get passengers to squeeze onto sv 962 when there were train disruption between Woodlands and Sembawang in Dec 06 and April 07.

Do then again, do think about it, we can never assume that everyone is heading towards the city. There may be some people who are heading towards Tampines or Simei. This is so especially when it is a school day where many pf the students are relying on the EWL to get to neighbouring towns for school.
