Renaming of SBS special services to end with "M"

  me and sv966 reckon the m will stand for MRT feeder service. although fears of ppl thinking the M services are midnight services like last time 16M 147M 36M ... are very worrisome

  I think the letter "M" stands for Midway ? As in ply the route halfway & back to the original stop/interchange

  Seeing at 162 was also renamed 162M...I suppose they just wanna differentiate services that go to different looping points from their parent service..

  162# 162M
  
  *where 162# can be found last time at the plate itself
  (162X can be found at SBST website)
  
  Does that mean:
  
  70# 70M ?
  107# 107M ?
  163# 163M ?
  
  How about:
  17A 17M ?
  
  it's like svc 700... 700A instead of 700X or 700#
  
  BTW, the background colour of 162M looks like it's a night service (Nite owl) !!! jk

  Esp with it has 162, 162A and 162# previously. Wonder why they scrap the X for M. Now we have another inconsistency:
  
  162M: Yio Chu Kang - Suntec (Loop) -- Alternate route
  163M: Sengkang - Fernvale -- Shortworking Trip.
  
  I feel that if they are renaming SWT to M, alternate trips should remain at X.

  agree with you. the change of alt trips from X to M complicates matters, somemore SBST just printed new destos for 162X a few months ago, and now they are going to change it again
  add on: when i saw the 162M poster at the bus stop near my house, i tot they were reintroducing nite owl 162M, but apparently that's not the case...

  I think to standardise everything, any service that has its route deviated from its parent service, be it SWT or weekend route will have its service number renamed to have a suffix M behind the service.
  
  17A may not be renamed since the driver doesnt allow you to ride the bus into bndep anyway. In addition, the fare stages wont change.

  A - D: Shortworking Trips
  E: FastForward
  M: Alternative Route from parent service (e.g. 70, 07, 162)
  
  As most Singaporeans do, lumping SWT and alternative routing with M will cause alot of confusion. Trust me

  for me i prefer
  
  A-D: Short working trips
  E: express with premium fares
  F: faster: normal trunk but faster version of bus route
  NR; midnite
  X: sunday (or sun icon on desto)
  R: route difference: fish tail / fish bone type route. thhat is service splits up into two ending destinations with a same backbone in route.

  I think they should rename 179A too. It isn't a shortworking trip, but express with normal fares.

  What about service 103W? Service 103W loops at Seletar West Camp while its parent service 103 loops at Seletar East Camp, this means service 103W can be renamed to service 103M unless SBST treats 103 and 103W as 2 individual services.

  yesterday SBS8049 was seen displaying 123M on its EDS. tot it suppose to start on 28 Jan?
