To make Sembawang bus services more logical, SMRT should have amended service 859 to loop around Sembawang new town and convert into a feeder service. Service 882 should also be converted to feeder service. Both these services will be charged feeder bus fares.
Service 852 and 857 could be extended to Sembawang interchange via Yishun Ave 2, Canberra Link, Sembawang Way, Sembawang Drive and Sembawang Vista.
Service 858 and/or 969 could also be diverted to ply along Sembawang via Woodlands Ave 7, Sembawang Way, Sembawang Drive, Sembawang Ave, Sembawang Road and then continue its current route.

Way back in 2003, I overheard a driver saying that 857 was supposed to be extended to Sembawang via the "859 way", in which I presume they would be merge. But sadly, the amendment never take place.
Service 882 is charging feeder fare if taking one directional, but a loop is trunk fare. I think SMRT presumes hardly anyone takes round trip. Same for service 859, travel within Sembawang is feeder fare.
I suppose the extension of sv 852 is to help out with sv 169 as an alternative from Woodlands to Yishun and AMK. Sv 169 was often too packed to take pax during peak hours at Yishun Ind Pk A.
Eversince TIBS days, services 858 and 969 were often suggested to extend to Sembawang. However, TIBS shot down all requests (even SMRT) as that would breach the 1 hour travel time promise. However, in 2006, SMRT relented after MP Dr Lim Wee Kiak requested for service 858 to amend to ply Sembawang, but PTC shot it down citing reasons like increase in travel timing and fares.
Seriously i dont think 852 will be extended to WRI.My feelings says its SBW!

They could be no amendment at all.

Ya lor thats what i think too...
For new Basic Service or Premium Services??? ![]()

That could be one reason, another reason may be union reasons, or closely linked to this would be payhour differences.
I really don't hope 852 will be extended. Unless they want to copy services like 51 and 143 to have an extra long route, it is senseless.
I can sense that having 852 under full WLDEP, and if 852 really retains at Yishun under Yishun Route Group, it would be something like BBDEP 198.
Anyway, let's not speculate too much now, just keep our fingers crossed. I really hate to see any AMDEP buses leaving to go other depots especially since I have loved them for almost a decade, but if they really do get transferred out, no choice. As far as I'm concerned, I want my 1218R to stay! =D
Is it beocz of the new SMRT WAB bus that is coming soon?
no more volgren bendies on 700! ![]()
But chances to see them on 61.
but now it makes me feel that 852 isn't possible to be extended to WRI. no space leh...unless they build an extra row at Berth 14, consisting of 966 and 950.
I agree that 852 should go to SBW instead of WRI, but then they might as well use SBW for 857 as well, since the buses always park there during lunch hours, 12pm to around 2pm, usually 4 buses. SBW still has 4 empty berths so, still has lots of space.
I hope that 969 can be amended to go thru Sembawang thru Sembawang Way......

I don't think 969 can be amended to go Sembawang , given the load along Woodlands Ave 7 already cram packed but depends on timing , and if amend to Sembawang will make much more worst
So as for now confirmed
61:AMDEP/WLDEP
75:KJDEP
106:KJDEP/AMDEP
171:AMDEP/WLDEP
173:WLDEP
177:WLDEP
190:KJDEP/AMDEP
700:KJDEP
852:WLDEP
859:WLDEP
970:KJDEP
985:AMDEP/KJDEP
To be confirmed(Speculate by some SLs)
176:KJDEP/WLDEP
178:WLDEP/KJDEP
960:WLDEP/AMDEP
963:WLDEP/KJDEP

Actually i am glad it never took place yet. 857 frequency in city area during peak hours is already quite horrible... if u are lucky, u can catch another one within 5 mins after u missed the earlier one... if suay... really can sit there like a idiot for almost 30 mins and one full-to-the-door 857 will come... followed by another empty one... ![]()
Instead of getting 858 and 969 to ply via Sembawang, why not extend 859 towards the eastern Singapore from Yishun? Maybe it can be extended to Changi Village, passing by Tampines and making use of TPE. Just a thought. ![]()

Hmm I don't think SMRT would do such a massive redeployment just because of the addition of China drivers. After all, the China drivers will be most probably sent to drive feeders or intratowns as stated by the press conference SMRT had. So it makes no sense to change the control status of trunks to suit the feeders?

I have a feeling it's something to do with the new buses. =)

Yeah... I have no idea why they want to give 857 full WLDEP status because after all, Suntec/Marina area is closer to AMDEP then WLDEP; Yishun by right is under AMDEP's control too. Because if they originally intended to have 857 start from Sembawang, and after that it did not take place, by right 857 should be handed down to AMDEP.
