Actually the specifications seem to call for Bluetooth as the standard communications protocol, including the upcoming CEPAS refresh as spelt out in LTA tendering documents.

I was at Central on Friday morning and one o the wireless network was SMRTBUSES566. Turned my head i saw the 961 Scania at the bus stop.
Seems like every bus has this thing in the bus that helps them to be located thru GPS. Not exactly sure of its functions and what nots though..

From the network name you posted 'SMRTBUSES566', you found the network for TIB566S. So, basically, each SMRT Bus have a network like this and it name varies due to it's rego. For e.g: SMRTBUSES372, which meant that the network belongs to TIB372J. I wonder what type of network name would SMRT give for their OCs.

I believe it might be for the real-time bus information panel at the certain bus stops ... ...

SBS AVMS:
Any idea does it relay information like travelling speed, etc, of the bus to the Control Centres for their monitoring?
:-)

No need to count, its 35.
Anyone know the bus operator for the Sentosa Svcs?
Edit: ignore this...

For internal routes, I believe they operate it themselves. External routes (i.e. those running between Sentosa and other parts of Singapore, such as Habourfront, chartered routes to some hotels, etc.) are operated by Woodlands Transport.

Specifically, the hotels' shuttles are done by WTS Travel, a subsidary of Woodlands Transport.
Internal routes are done by themselves BUT when need arises, WT would help out in beef up services.
Are there WAB VSOs?

no, though they are low-floor buses. unless SBS modifies them.
Originally posted by 566117:Are there WAB VSOs?
in Singapore nope. In Hong Kong, plenty.
Addon- Although both countries' VSO are also bodied by Volgren, SBST didnt have the wheelchair ramp on the VSOs.

SingTel 3G/GPRS Data. Try observing more carefully for the comms box the next time you board a bus.
