I believe the fare stages will still remain intact, just that the method of calculating fares will be different.
For example, currently a person boards service 36 for 8 fare stages, and transfers to service 111 for 3 stages. So that's $1.09 (8 stages) + $0.67 (3 stages) - $0.25 (x-fer rebate) = $1.51
When distance based fares kicks in, he might only pay $1.19 (8 + 3 stages) instead. This way, he wont get penalised by the transfers he made for taking the shortest route home, but that is still prone to fare increase.
Then again, this is only my interpretation. They might still penalise passengers a little for making transfers.

Hate it with regards to the slot, not the bus. If you want to sit, just come out earlier, simple as that. Ownself know demand higher at your specific time and yet you complain.
Extension of Full-Day Bus Lanes to Three Locations
1. From 28 July 2008, the normal bus lanes on three stretches along Orchard Road, Orchard Boulevard and Serangoon Road will be converted to full-day bus lanes.
2. Currently, these three stretches of normal bus lanes
operate only during peak hours on weekdays. The full-day bus lane scheme
operates from 7.30am to 8pm on all weekdays and Saturdays, except public
holidays.
3. The extension of the full-day bus lane scheme to these
three stretches is in line with the Land Transport Master Plan to increase
coverage of such bus lanes so as to make public transport a choice mode.
4. Surveys conducted showed that the two most important
aspects of the bus journey for commuters are waiting time and travelling time.
As buses are more efficient carriers of commuters, with a higher number of
passengers per unit road space as compared to other vehicles such as cars, it is
necessary to give priority to buses so that more commuters reach their
destinations on time.
5. Prior to the implementation of full-day bus lanes at the
three stretches, LTA has engaged and informed relevant parties affected by the
changes, such as businesses, building owners as well as grassroots organisations,
to receive feedback and suggestions.
6. With the three new stretches, the total length of full day
bus lanes will be extended to 17 km.
7. Please refer to Annex A for the location of the three stretches of roads where the full-day bus lane scheme is extended to.
ANNEX A
Locations of New Full-Day Bus Lanes
1) Orchard Boulevard: Grange Road (Start); Paterson Road (End)
2) Orchard Road: Orange Grove Road (Start); AnguiliaPark (End)
3) Serangoon Road: Buffalo Road (Start); Balestier Road (End)
They should just implement full day bus lanes on all bus-lanes in the CBD area.

YCK ter is too small to be upgraded into an interchange, although it links with the MRT station.

I know lah, the space is not enough, however, one solution may work, but not now when AM int is been built, find a area in AMK town central to have a large AM int which merges AM Int and YCK ter together, or move some ser to AMDEP.

Can be done. Just gonna have to build the shelter to cover the space that is currently open air.
