I don't ever recall clear glass panels on the staircases of our double-deck buses. Up till the Tridents and the Volvo Super Olympians (sans SBS 9889U), all of our double-deck buses use plastic paneling for the staircases; SBS 9889U (the ComfortDelgro bodywork prototype) and the B9TLs all had frosted glass if I remember correctly. The fact that SBS 9889U predate the B9TLs, and the fact that I took it once and noticed the frosted glass before the B9TLs came in, suggest that the frosted glass had been there all along.
Edit: found it on tintinspartan's YouTube page: a video of him riding SBS 9889U. This was in the middle of last year, and the frosted glass is already there (go to about 3:24 in the video; you see it best at about 4:30 when he pans over to the staircase). All credits for the video go to tintinspartan.

Most ideal is for Bendies to ply such routes. Yishun and WDL are such successful examples. Thats why I strongly believe both our operators ought to reconsider their mindset and purchase a mix of bendies and DDs to cater to specific needs and demands. -

Must go thru LTA too...now is unclear who stopped the bendy input into SG roads.LTA or SMRT? LTA reply say SMRT operates bendies, so its their decsion (refering to the feedback posted here by someone a month ago), while it was said that LTA is banning bendies because of inconveniences and stuffs.
Really, i'd like to see a WAB bendy on SG road someday - The first EEV /Euro 6 WAB Bendy by SMRT XD.

It'd be myopic of LTA to totally ban the existence of bendies on sg roads if they really do. -

It will created more jam as vehicles from Boon Lay Way/Jln Boon Lay(from AYE) will have to stop for the traffic light.
Remember the situation before Jln Boon Lay was widen & the traffic light at this junction was removed & replaced by an overhead bridge.

Wa, finally got someone identified the problem. Write to SBS la, for wat post here. Luckily Service 242 frequency make adjustment, now got 1 service controller and 1 inspector at Service 242 berth during the peak hrs.
