It will be very boring for us bus enthusiasts. So few models to appreciate. Although I don't like driving the Nissan U31, still it adds up to the variety.
I may not have the chance to get behind the wheel again, but I will love to take the rides round Singapore.
The MB O405 is an excellent bus, good turning radius. Good brakes. Comfortable ride, except for the rocking horse effect after taking road humps (normal for all rear engine buses).
When will SBS start adding some new exciting models??? I was in Germany recently, and I got myself a ride on the MB Citaro. The engine sounds like the SMRT OC500. Could be using the same engine. The acceleration is superb (tachometer show shifting at around 2400rpm). I counted 6 shifts.
SMRT drivers are not maximising the OC500 accelerating power.
The pedals are totally different from the current MB O405 (Webasto floor mounted brake pedal, and floor mounted gas pedal). The new Citaro has pendant pedals like cars, or just like KUB.
wow... sounds fun
Well, we just have to wait for SBS to bring in more bus models. It will be pretty boring if the entire fleet is going to be only just Volvo and Scania.
I hope the SMRT is also going to bring in more models instead of just settling with MB OC500.
Otherwise, us bus enthusiast will have lesses reasons to go out for bus rides.

U are very right.but i dont think they will be bringing in any more newer buses so soon.because SBST have alreay ordered 900 scanias kubs which is already a great eyesore.SBST like dont even know how to explore different bus models also.like u say, everything also Volvo or Scania.damn boring man.at least SMRT is ordering 132 MB 0C500LEs only.but i agree that they also can order other different bus models also.what to do.singapore bus operators are so boring.no choice.we have to bear with it or just wait for them to buy more different bus models.

So sad to hear.ZF gearbox bus scrapped.![]()

u feel sad also?
Everyday I see different bus models by private operators, but cannot take joy ride.
How I wish we can go back to the 80s and 90s when we have Volvo, Scania, Mercs, Leyland, Renault, Nissan. Everyday is a challenge; which bus to take.
By the way, has anyone wonder why SBS put a lone B10TL in bbdep? All the other B10TL are either in amdep or bndep.

Before they rest in peace, I hope they will knock some "sense" to SBS management to bring in some MB successors, and not keep sticking to Scania and Volvo.

Cuz in the timetable thread, service_238 said BBDEP cut one shift for hol on 166, which is 9889U, thats why I can't get to take it now with it resting in the depot!!!
Holiday somemore, school open not much time liao lah ![]()

None of you will believe me if I say; UNTIL TODAY I have not had the chance to step into 9889.
I first saw 9889 3 years ago parking at the last row of bbdep, near PIE, when I visited my pals in bbdep.
When it was taken off the laid up list, it was on 147. I waited for 3 hours at Bencoolen street, and did not catch it. So I took SBS9214S driven by an ex-colleague. Who knows! Bloody 9889 just right behind and I did not see it until I reach Clementi. Kanna sai!
On another occassion, I was told that 9889 was assigned to 166. So I took 1 day off and waited for 4 hours at Clementi interchange, but no luck. Then on my way back home on 189, I saw 9889 inside bbdep workshop. Very kenna sai!
I have taken joyrides on every B10TL which comes out of amdep and bndep. And yet having stay in the west, I still have no luck with 9889 which ironically stays in the west like me. They say this is fate!
When can I take a joy ride on 9889?

Yeah! Sure going to miss them.

402A...quite a gd bus...
404U...childhood bus, AMDEP 315
3902D as well, it made me rmb it so well due to the vibrations when the BC brake hard during the NAC AMDEP 315 times. Prob rectified aft it become CAC.
I was tyco when I record the vid of 402A and 416K leaving the bus stop, feeling that they'll soon be gone...

Yeah! 404U sounded like a horn everytime the driver floor the accelerator to hold the gears. Have not ride on them for a long time, maybe 15 years or so.
