Happened early this morning.
I am not in Hong Kong of course, but with some help of forumnites and their photos, it can be seen that the damages are quite hefty...

Well, the fire for this two vehicles don't seem to start from the rear at least, most engine parts are still intact. They might have got the fire spread from the fuel tanks this way...
Check out the overall picture and you would find most of the flames is in the centre of the buses.
it's all e golden buses
Even king bus sv 68X buses also kena
Wah. Expensive blaze.
Preliminary information shows that the ATE (Trident Enviro 500) caught fire first...
Sad case...
Add on: News report that electric short circuiting might be the cause of the blaze. HK News.
Video shows buses were burnt red hot, or almost, as the bodywork was ignited and burnt in sharp yellow flames. The explosions were like 'puff-Boom' and there were alot of flames, smoke over 20 stories high. During the fire some buses were evacuated and it must be a high stress job for those tasked as it was really hot near the area and any time the flames would have spread over...
Its far worse than the amdep fire 13 years ago.

Eh 10 years ago.
The most 'expensive' loss of this fire... Of course every bus is worth alot, but when you see it, you feel that a bigger vaccum have been formed...

Copyright by '3AD17_HH4806', previous photo of the bus is too big to be viewed comfortably, or so...

A fire occurred in 1998/1999 and destroyed several buses, 9013E (bram 143) was burnt until the chassis broke into half (ok maybe not half, the middle portion just disappeared), 456U, possibly 532H, 7195B and possibly one other LO2x were also burnt. The cause was possibly due to a fuel leak. One difference from the KMB one is that, in the amdep fire, staff did try to save buses around the fire by driving them away. hgdep also has a few arson cases before which led to them shifting the lots further in.

SBST depot buses still can roam at night but not for SMRT Amdep cramped like shit.Buses park haywire.Heard rumours that they will shift to new depot by year end

Theres an unknown construction site at Teck Whye, near CCK there. Its next to Teck Whye station.
The piling methods used is pile driving, driving concrete piles into the ground. Only low rise buildings without underground basements is built with such foundations. Maybe AMDEP might shift here?

Why would AMDEP shift to somewhere so north up near KJDEP?

SMRT Cram Jam 2008. Cram people into buses, as well as Cram buses into parking lots.
Ride SMRT, Celebrate Life!
Yesterday was one of the worst conditions in Yishun INT... all the 812 and 804 buses lambat like mad, with each bus piling to max. All because of the rain. Can't they deploy peak hour X-overs? =.="
KMB staff did drove buses away, but there were shortage of staff...
In the news video I could make out the last bus being drove away a DM Trident, parked just next to the ten buses that are in the picture. At that time it was a 'hot' situation and the flames were already burning the second bus from the left, originally, all the lots were full. The staff I believe did the best they could, maybe not as fast.
Generally in vehicular fire its best not to move any vehicles near it, that means sadly those vehicles will have to say bye bye as well, until the fire is under control or is already put out. This is all due to safety procedures. Aircraft fires are also the same. Money in this case is not a concern as piority is given to staff and fire brigade to do their job. Buses should only be moved away when the fire is still in its premature stage, or, when its totally put out.
If I put myself in the shoes of a depot manager, I don't mind if ten twenty or thirty buses got burnt rather than one of my staff die because of moving a bus away from the fire. I will 'kenna' lawsuit for putting a staff in danger and even manslaughter, but if buses are burnt, at most I lose my job.
