174, 198 + SMRT services enter from the "left"...
JIS from the "right"...
Well not sure how they are gonna re-route it but it will sort of be still the 2 entries to the interchange unless they open a new one.
As far as i observed,
(1) Buses that turn right from Jalan Boonlay = turn right to ctrl 2,then ctrl 3 & st 64
- 157,172,174,198,199,242,405
(2) Buses that turn left from jalan boon lay & go straight from boon lay way = go straight all the way to junction of st 64 & then turn right
- some JIS svc + 30, 79,154,240
(3) Buses that turns right from boon lay way & turn left to ctrl 3
- 178,180,187
However, buses from (1) did choose to go straight till junction of st 64, as what buses from (2) did.
As what i observed, it's due to (a) the traffic light at the junction of boon lay way & ctrl 2. When more vehicles are turning right, e.g svc 242 can choose to go straight w/o waiting to turn right or (b) the BC might choose to go the fastest way to int
That's my opinion...

Yes, you are correct, that is the route assigned to them. Some BCs still decide on their own route. If Boon Lay Way is heavily jammed, you might see some services, when exiting BNL, they will turn right then ctrl3 then ctrl 2 to get back to Boon Lay Way (i.e. following 178, 187 route).
BTW, most of the BCs also don't follow the parking lots assigned to their services. So you see 179, etc in the first parking row and 181, 242, 243, etc in the last parking row!

Ya, I mention that before for Service 242. Similiarly for svc 242, if they are late they still go straight.
Btw, this morning really very angry with service 242. This bus go straight using Boon Lay Way and turn right at JW st 64. There are 7 buses jam there stuck outside the entrance at JW St 64. This make the bus unable to turn in but keep waiting at the junction bet JW St 64 & Boon Lay Way. My trip from JW ST 91 (BLK 924) (7.10am) and reach Boon Lay Int at (7.42am) . My Goodness, how I gotta survive with such svc.
when i take 174 to BNL, it always take Boon Lay Way all the way straight to Jurong West St 64 then turn. K230UBs tend to chiong along that stretch..

174 BCs has been using this route for quite some time already.
Yes, although each services has been given their own individual route to enter Boon Lay INterchange, but it is still up to the BCs to see if they want to exercise their "rights" to use the faster route. It all depends.
Just last week, a 172 DAF was saw entering the Interchange through Boon Lay Way.
at the end of the day, the bus still reaches boon lay int in tact, it doesnt really matter de la
but wat if there's accident or sort on the not allocated route?
does that really matters?

bc confirm die lo. what i meant that nothing will happen to the bus if it uses that route not about if the driver or someone else caused an accident with that bus
although by right they should go 1 big round but actually even they use the shortcut, does it matter? the pax will still reach Boon Lay Int what. traffic still smooth even with those S Shifters coming in from SLBP. this way i find save time and fuel, overall cuts cost for each bus making 1 big round. then fares also not so fast go up.
sometimes via big round is faster than via boon lay way direct!
so got its own pros & cons. gotta look at the time of the day too. :D
AM/PM peak Boon Lay Way > JW St 64
Off Peak JW Ctrl 2 > Ctrl 3 > St 64
Me prefer one big round, much faster at times
me prefer the big round too. however got more traffic there.

U would know the difference. During off-peak, if they go one round you would end up extra 3 mins for ur trip. During peak hours, if they go one round you would end up extra 5 mins for ur trip. Reasons, got to meet up with 3 traffic lights, 2 zebra crossing (the most busiest one). If they go straight, they meet up 3 traffic light, the traffic light outside BNL int need to wait for the vehicles & pedestrian when turning in.
For me, svcs like 157,174,198,199,242 are totally crap for choosing the route(Boon Lay Way) to go back int. All these svcs should use JW ctrl 1 instead.

JW Ctr 1???
Why no no to JW Ctrl 2/3/St 64 to some BC:
1. Vehicles waiting to enter JP Basement CP(partial closed for U/C to new extension) along JW Ctrl 2, worsen on Wkend/PHs
2. Taxis waiting to enter JP Taxi Stand & illegal vehcles parkings on JW Ctrl 3, especially during peak hrs.
3. Heavy Vehicles entering/leaving construction site(old BNL Int site) at JW Ctrl 3
4. Illegal boarding/alighting/loading/unloading along JW St 64(towards Boon Lay Way, bef/aft JW St 63/64 junction, former bus stop for 254) blocking side entrance to BNL Temp Int
5. People ignoring the traffic lights at side entrance to BNL Temp Int

Ya, I propose that road to be taken. It is faster and most of the 174E driver take this rd during the afternoon peak hrs. They replace the bus stop beside "Shell" station with the bus stop at JW ctr 1.
Off peak, Boon Lay Way is usually faster, whereas in peak hours, going the one big round is faster.
In peak hours, the traffic along Upper Jurong Road/Boon Lay Way is non-stop! The only chance you can turn right is when the traffic light green arrow lights up. And once you enter BNL, you still have to "merge" with the other buses going the one big round to drop off passengers.
you guys mean the routings of buses toward to int have changed?
i know there is a stand alone bus stop opposite the block 66xs for s172 to call when entering int. so poor 172 cannot change its route

No lah, the route has been like that since the start of BNL Temp interchange.
BTW, I think you mean the other 3 SMRT services. If 172 needs to stop at that stop, must U-turn at Jalan Bahar/Boon Lay Way junction!
