51 is enough. they are slow, they waste fuel and they are noisy.
If they are slow, they waste fuel and they are noisy, they are good for feeders but I don't think it is noisy from the inside.

would prefer other buses to do feeders anyway. what we are saying is. since we have 51 B10TLs jus put the current ones on feeders and shorthaul. dun go and get anymore B10TLs. more than enough.in fact can sell some away.
this younger generation of bus fans cannot appreciate bus specs but only how the bus looks. they also dun appreciate old buses which are way better than the newer buses. like LO3x. so much more powerful than a B10TL.

Maybe SBST can refurbish our LO3x's. Maybe good look = bad specs and average looks = better specs. Anyway, I also appreciate our Volvo MKIVs (well mantained ones without problems), Scania N113CRB (OAC and CAC) and Merz O405 (OAC and CAC)'s engines. Some of the Merz O405 are undergoing refurbishment. I wonder how it will look like. The Merz O405s have a degree of smoothness that I don't think our K230UBs have.

doesnt mean good looking bus is lousy. our CNGs have good pickup and acceleration though they are problematic. but the new buses now, arent as powerful as the older buses last time. e.g MKII.

'If' is not in the question. Second hand buses are not allowed with regards to LTA's regulations.

Talking about powerful buses, i would say LO3x is still not the best. O305 should be the bus that is powerful.

haha some of the bus fans have never had a chance to ride those. i put LO3x at least they may have an experience. i remember a BC telling me that he missed the O305s alot. even wanna bring it home.

I may have rided it once or twice on Service 28 or 31 when I was below 6 years old.

i love those.. lots in serangoon int last time. they were horribly noisy just like the Leyland atlanteans, but they were nice to ride.

I remember clearly their W3E gearbox had 1 second of silence between gear shifts...
e.g. From 1st gear: Roar~ (silence) [switch gear] Roar~ (repeat)
Do remember that the O305's were NAC buses.

As if we don't know...

yes, that 1 second of silence was heaven.. after that it was rattling and, well, all those hub reduction axle sounds again. haha. atlanteans sounded like this too. the manual gearbox.. i liked it. to me, those atlantean wheels look nicer than alcoa rims.![]()

The O.305s has a non-electronic gearbox W3D 080R
The O.405s were the ones to get an electronic gearbox W3E 110/2.2R
Just get a Merc O.405 driver to use kickdown and you will get the same thing.

Ah but the sounds of the gearbox is more clearly heard with an NAC bus. =D
I notice that the plug doors of some Volvo B10TL's exit plug doors are not in very good condition. I boarded SBS9813M today and when it was time for the exit plug doors to open, the right door opened first and the left door opened a second later. I believe plug doors are to open and close together. When the doors of SBS9813M was closing, at least both doors closed together. On a side note, the doors closing chime for SBS9813M was of a different pitch from SBS9820S but it still sounded nice.

Seriously, they cant be closing together. If they close together, something is very wrong. No matter how it is close of open, there will be a lag time. It only depends on how long the lag time is for the other side of the door to respond.
The next time u take a Habit / Volgren bendy / Trident / VSO / B10BLE / B9TL / L94UB / K230s. Take a closer look.
