Should be the same for weekdays. But weekends will probably be different. Might be T shift or A/P full day on weekends.

ask him to stand at the front part lah.....it is usual for non bus fans to hate KUBs
will the man be able to do full day?
Went for a ride on 8031J today. First impressions of the bus by looking at the interior, very KUB like but the floor and colour of handrailsgives it a much more comfortable feel. Took a back seat and strangely air con not blowing. Den i realised have to turn the small knob. Air con is good, but not as powerful as the ones on KUB. Acceleration in my opinion is better than KUB (maybe BC step harder), no jerking when braking too. The gap behind the back seat gets quite warm as the ride continued. Bus only hit 4th gear once if i can remember well enough. All in all quite a good ride.
I don't know if it's me but when it accelarates in 1st and 2nd gear, it sounds like Vo3x accelaration. Also I heard a faint whistle once or twice when the bus was slowing down.

It did sound like VO Voith Gearbox sound.

That is because the MAN has same bodywork and interior as the KUB except the poles is yellow instead of purple and the flooring design is nicer. And also , it's smooth than the KUB's due to the Voith gearbox , unique bus.
Very unique indeed. But is there any link between the engine of the MAN and Vo3x? I seem to hear Vo3x-like engine sounds.

when this bus slows down to stop,it gives a B9TL type of sound.but to me,when this bus moves,it sounds like a VO2X.

You sure? SBS 81S' lifespan has expired for a few months now.
Or maybe SBS Transit wants a group shot of their two MAN demonstrators... </random>
Edit: dug up this page about SBS 81S; it's a MAN 16.240, while SBS 8031J is a MAN 18.240 HOCL-NL. Hmmm... what do those numbers mean again?

I thought 81S was retired some months ago. Is it in SBST livery?

I think the front numbers refer to the mximum gross weight and the numbers after the decimal refers to the maximum power of the engine. Eg. 16.240 will be have a maximum gross weight of 16 tonnes and the power of the engine is 240 hp

The small knob maybe useless after sometimes as people like to spoil the wind vents

It has happened with virtually every other bus that has those kind of vents. Just go take a look at the ones on those Volgren-bodied SMRT buses and SBS Transit's Olympians that haven't have them replaced yet.

I last seen it at Changi in March 2007 in SBST Livery.
Unless Merzrox mistook SBS81S to a SJE MAN, which also have the same bodywork. Or else, the rule applies (No pic, No talk)
