Thanks for the info Dave, I stand corrected.

Dave, isn't the first character on the VIN indicates the country of origin? If that's the case, then ScaniaN113CRBluver may have a point. I'm sure it doesn't mean the country where the manufacturer is based. There are Scania and Mercedes chassii which begin with 9, indicating that they were made in Brazil. According to a list which I have, Spanish made chassii should begin with V. I would appreciate if you can clarify further on this matter.
Thanks.

Mercedes Benz do Brasil is a different entity from Evobus, with their own chassis range, even though buses manufactured by the two companies have Mercedes Benz badges.
The B10TLs, which were produced in the UK and in Poland have YV instead of SLV (UK) or the Polish one.

So, what you're saying is that even though the B10TL was made in the UK, for which its VIN should start with S, it still starts with Y, which is for Sweden? Hence, the first character of a VIN actually denotes where the manufacturer originates from as opposed to where the chassis is produced?

Yes in most cases.

but then if i stand too far i scared the bus will look like a toy bus also...so how far from the road is the best to take?
kengkia, stand abt 5 to 7 steps backwards frm where u were, depending on e length and height of e bus. anyway e timing of that shot was quite gd!

I'm happy to explain the difference here.
All buses produced by Evobus GmbH have "WEB" as the WMI prefix in the VIN. Evobus has plants in Germany, Spain, France and Turkey. Buses produced by Evobus, no matter what country they're produced in, carry the "WEB" WMI.
On the other hand, buses produced by DaimlerChrysler (Mercedes-Benz) do Brasil Ltda, which is a completely seperate operation to Evobus, have the WMI prefix of "9BM".
Regards,
Dave
few weeks passed already, how is the production. is it coming in. SMB 2
, where are you ?

are u referring to the first pic?
hmm, the its for all pics. but for 2nd pic, juz step 2 steps backwards, since it nearly caught everything of e bus. :D

Patience, my lad.
WLDEP and AMDEP have recieved it months ago (10 units each) and is stored in depot till I don't know when. But as far as I know, it could be out in August. For Now, bear with SMB1H. I wonder how the bus looks like in SMRT livery.

there is none inside AMDEP. Do u have evidence that there are 20 units in Singapore?

There were 1008 O.405s and 2 O.405Gs which were built by Daimler Benz, with WDB as the WMI. TIB838H and SBS999U are the 2 O.405Gs, the others, including the Volgren Mercs are built by Evobus, with WEB as the WMI.
