New slogan for SMRT: "Ride bus like riding train"?
![]()
They are making sure the passengers know that they are riding on SMRT's network of transport buses/trains. Same experience.
Bombard you with announcements, stand behind yellow line of bus stops, mind the gap between bus and bus stop etc are next in line of the announcements.
Won't be suprised when if SMRT taxis suddenly also have this announcements "Welcome abroad SMRT Taxis. Please wear your seatbelt and have an enjoyable trip."
SBST is the ez-link reader change colour to red/purple to remind you when you tap your ezlink card you're abroad SBST's bus (my theory :p).
then as well e card reader shld have been red n white, silver grabpoles, red colour seats etc

That will be very dull.
Originally posted by TIB1224Y:I remember seeing those 'new' displays on the short buses (12 M) around 2005... They are those installed by SMRT.
First, nothing was displayed. Then came 'Singapore' 'System under test', then 'stop name (System under test)'. Presently city services have 'stop name (F1 Diversion in CBD Area)'
Habit Bendies seem to have them when they were introduced. Simple and easy to understand.
yep. but after the 'stop name (System Under Test)' one, is this in this sequence:
'stop name'
'stop name (Please Move to the Rear)'
'stop name'
then to the F1 diversion one.
update: now updated to 'stop name (F1 Diversion till 2 Oct 08)'

rumors or true?
I saw 4 holes on the roof near the entrance of SMB 2 E. It looks like it's for the holder for the next stop display, similar to those currently being used.
Saw SMB 5 on 190 around 6 at bpj area. it does not have any ad, can see the original looks. i find the rear of the bus very beautiful.
Spot OC500LE at Boon Lay Temp Int twice off service on Wkdays AM Peak but didn't manage to see the rego... ![]()

Only for last week because of service 106/180 crossover 106S201. did one trip from Bukit Panjang to Boon Lay. After that off service to Bukit Batok Interechange for Service 106, Replacing a bendy slot. Suspect is TIB 1128S being replaced, the perm bus driver also on hospital MC for 1 month.
On a side note, any more UDs Nissan Diesel being laid up/deregistered/sold/scrapped?
SMB6U seems to be taking a long time to come out. What happen?
[off topic]: i have another qn on Nissan UDs. Is TIB373G in WL SP status? cos i thought its non-user lay up then how come its SP. I have not seen the bus for a long time liao.

SMB7S already spotted here: http://buses.sgforums.com/forums/1279/topics/329087?page=40
sry, i mean SMB6U
I have only heard once that 373G was laid up for an engine change. Now its out with an overhauled engine. 368Y also undergo the same thing about a month back.
The better Nissans based on some bus captain feedback are 368Y, 370P and 371L. Personally 374D and 376Z have the highest speed, but initial start are slower.
1128S is now likely driven by a standby BC in lieu of Uncle off in MC.

yes.i agree with you.the rear is very unique and beautiful.at least this mercz OC500LEs have better and cool designs than the boring looking kubs.the kubs look so plain and boring. at least now i know that gemilang coachworks can make better looking designs for buses.
SMB1H is back on Service 190 this morning at 1125am, heading for New Bridge Road @ Bukit Panjang Road.

At least the KUBs are more of an Original design. As compared to a Rojak O500 that we have in SMRTB.

I assure you, if there are 900 OC500LEs on the roads right now, you would also find them as equally boring and dull as to the K230s.
maybe he like the mercs better cos got the big big badge ![]()

lol how true. I remember when the first box MB0405 came to TIBS. it was so novel to board that bus...it was so new, so european, so different (cos colour is green)
i took SMB4A today on 851.
"Welcome/Thank you for travelling w SMRT Buses"
"Please hold e grabpoles blah blah blah"
The bloody thing that does not match at all:
"Doors r closing dattttttttttt", by then e doors r already closed liao.
What e heck is that? Making a loss liao n doing such type of stupid things. E GPRS alighting system (common on other SMRT buses) is more good enough liao.
Suspension is good but not at e best that i expected.
Anyway, quite a low-powered bus it seems. 1 way to describe e engine is it sounds partially like a UD truck CKB45ACT.
Off topic: I saw some1 taking a pic of that bus in Yishun Int in e PM. (Indian) lol

Low-powered? These things have 220kW (299 PS) and 1250Nm - sigificantly higher than the K230UB, B7RLE, and 18.240. The power and torque are available at lower engine speeds too (better driveability). From experience, the OM 457 hLA engine isn't exactly spirited (as opposed to the OM 447 hLA), but definitely delivers the low-revving "kick" that Merc engines are famous for.
