Striders are more powerful than DM3500 because of ZF over Voith. VO3x are more powerful than VSO because of ZF over Voith again. ZF whines but starts up faster and feels more powerful than Voith. Voith is quieter than ZF but Voith is slower. Let's discuss which is better. Maybe differences in fuel consumption, noise level, vibrations and finally speed?

Both are gearboxes.

Seems you have not been on a Voith-ed VO 2-axle, or the least an NAC Scania.

VO2x's speed amazes me for it's gearbox... guess due to it's lighter weight it can speed faster.
DTs are also known for speeding well.

I have been on DM3500s, OAC/CAC/NAC Scanias, which uses Voith. I have been on VO2x when I was 6 years old.
deleted.

you cannot say that striders are more powerful than DM3500 due to its having a ZF gearbox and the DM3500 having a voith gearbox. the strider runs on the TD102KF engine which has 245bhp compared to the DH10A engine in the DM3500 which outputs 285bhp. however, you may say that striders have faster acceleration (which i doubt so) ;because the ZF gearbox makes it realise its peak torque earlier than in the DM3500. riding in striders, you can feel the power boost halfway thru the first gear, after which it quickly shifts up, while the signature draggy first gear of voiths give the Dm3500 a slightly sower start. it only realises its peak halfway thru the first gear which takes quite awhile longer than with the ZF, where by now the Dm3500 starts to sprint. the higher power output of the engine compensates for the slower acceleration

more like DM3500 use D10A and could it ever be possible that it has 285bhp? i doubt so...and anyway would SBS wan to choose a bus with such a good acceleration? i tot they always choose the lowest end?
D10A285 is used on VSO
DH10A is for DM3500
as for gassy,
GH10A.
all 3 are 285bhp engines. the D is for 'diesel'. as for GH10A the G is for 'gas'.
that was long ago when sbs had powerful buses... =D
ZF tends to offer better initial speed and top speed.
Voith tends to offer a better mid-range performance.
But heck, I'm biased towards voith. Although I am impressed by the B9TL's ZF.

wa! i tot VSOs are only a 245bhp leh...

It's 285bhp.....but the VSOs always seem to lack power because it seems to lack low-end torque.

they behave like Dm3500's
halfway up the 1st gear then can feel power
a vso had some sort of drag race with a 147 vo3x. from red light, both bc jam pedal, the vo3x managed to get slightly ahead of the vso at first but the vso later overtook it in 2nd gear by a large margin.

9888 would prob be miles ahead. ![]()
isnt a ZF B10TL is better?

Yes. But you would hear a loud whine from the outside.
Seriously..
i wonder this is the how-many-times did people post such topic.
It will nvr end. Will just go on and on and on and on and on and ppl wwill still debate which is better.
Its up to the individuals..
ZF or Voith ?
Both sucks..
Allison the best..
Happy now ?

Heres a quiz for you guys. DH10A and D10A, what is the difference between these engines? Assume that both have same power output and torque. Seniors please let this qsn be answered by the juniors. Thanks. ![]()

Dunno how many times I answered such a topic already. Dunno how many times I expressed preference for voith and allison.![]()

Well, if Allison is the best, why didn't SBST and SMRT choose Allison?
No point comparing raw HP.
Many factors include shifting time(in M.s) and trasmission behaviour(such as upshifting as the driver like).
Should be comparing dyno-tune data, but im not sure if its available for buses ![]()
But anyway, the E-matic system(EasyMatic or what i called the buttons gearbox
) sucks..i rather they include a proper gearstick and all.

izzit the way it is positioned? DH10A is horizontal and D10A is vertical?
Depend on engines too
ie:Voith is good on many MAN/VDL/Scania buses,ZF on MBs/Volvos/Irisbus while Allison on Alexander-Dennis

SBST's Volvo B10BLE CNGs feature the GH10B Euro 2 engine which was Volvo's second generation methane engine. The GH10B was the first methane engine released by Volvo to have two ratings - 245hp and 285hp. This meant that the gas engines could be installed in articulated buses with higher power requirements.

Dave

true to pretty say :a loud whine!

... one of the reason is that maybe that Allison engines are more expensive
