Too bad there is no poll thread over in this forum. But let's hear from you guys. (Perhaps this vote can last until the new mercedes O500LE is out of the roads?) I leave this to the moderators.
Here are your options.
1. Absolutely rubbish . Another nonsense from this mediocre company
2. I am ok with it. Doesn't bother me at all.
3. Hey, I love it. More good things to come from SMRT perhaps?
4. Go Go SMRT, they are the Queen of public transport ! (yeah right)
I start off with the votes.
My vote is number 1. Why? SMRT simply have no idea what the hell they are doing. With the likes of the "wonderful" Dennis Lance , Elbos, Nissan Diesels around, replace these buses first before you go ahead with this crap.
How about you guys?
No 2 for me,they will replace the buses gradually.132 buses just an example.I'm pretty sure they will buy more buses from 2010 onwards....
Seriously, i hope you do give them a chance please. What you (you shld know yourself) just did is like stangling a choking person to death. At least they are doing smth right? Its much better than letting their bus continue to rot.
At least now they have refurbished their buses, with new seats and interior parts replacement. Now the OC500LE (or O500LE) is coming up. At least i feel much better than last time. ![]()
No 2. Not 3 because of the tiny side and rear eds
no 2. but i don really agree with sph.. she drives a merc S500 and u tell me this car is green?
and when she was interviewed she said ''if i cant drive what i like, why do i bother to work so hard''.. pure rubbish i say..
she also said that "even if you own a rolls royce, i guarantee you, it will break down one day.."
if you maintain it properly, will it breakdown?

At least they did something... rather than nothing at all.
It'd be a 2 or 3 for me... SMRT doesn't really suck but due to someone...

I think they can just get rid of their Dennis Lances instead of refurbishing it. The Lances have no suspension system so every bump can be felt.

Lol.. no suspension?? If no suspension riding on the Lance would be like riding a BMX bicycle..

That's what AntiDennisLance told me.

I would consider this somewhat an inhouse advertisement. I find it alright but I still don't like that some windows are still covered.
But hey let's given them some credit for SEA's first Euro V bus.
And btw, replacing these buses needs time. They will definitely be replaced as time goes by. UDs are going. So you can strike that off your list. Be patient and see what SMRT will be doing, since they have plans to bring in more buses.
Before you blame SMRT, you have to blame TIBS for buying those buses.
they at least change from celebrating life.

Dennis Lance is still alright but it depends on how the technician handle or maintain the condition of the buses as some of the UK Dennis Lance cannot make it(eg the axle create lots of noises when passing through of humps, breaking and many more). ![]()
But try taking TIB1008E(took it on Sv 985, the axle did not make any noise and the acceleration and speeding was smooth), I think it is the best among the UK fleet for now (not sure for TIB1002X as the last time I took it was good also)
For MY side, it also depend on the technician and how the BCs operate those buses ![]()
Number 3.
SMRT is following TIBS tradition of being the most fashionable I hope.
One. SMRT is crap. Thats all I can say.
1, oh my god.. more green buses = more gst !!!!
Hmmm... i sense they are trying to show the public that they are going green... Whether they got hidden agendas I dont know but atleast its creating awareness to go green.

It was LTA who forced SMRT with all this drastic changes. Imagine if the rules were still relax as before, do you think SMRT would have make this changes? With the new rules in place, SMRT's position is vulnerable now. They know that if they don't do anything, their control of the buses will be in jeopardy now that the goverment allows the 3rd bus company to join in the monopoly.

TIBS make a mistake in buying those buses but they wanted to sell them off, who stop them? SMRT.
Anyway, I do agree that they(SMRT) should be reviewed again after all their new buses come in. Frequency of buses and cleanliness of the buses and other aspects of services. I still don't get it why is 173 in the control of WLs. Some of these decisions are bizarre. For the sake of Singapore transport, let's hope SMRT do indeed improve their service overall.
1 & 2 for me.
good to know that they are getting new buses, like finally. dont care abt the advertising. they're only to tempt the general public but we clearly dont fall under this category coz' we know more ultimately.
i just want SMRT buses to speed well and i'm happy. easily pleased is what i am i guess.

No. 2/3 for me...
They use tiny eds to be GREEN mah, smaller EDS = lesser LED used = lesser electricity consumption = lesser fuel used.

End up strain and worsen our eyesight, need to waste resources to make everyone new specs. ![]()

Even with the new rules, it doesnt state that the new buses must be Euro V or from Mercedes Benz. Hence why did SMRT buy MB buses in the end? I'm not sure about SBST tho, but i knew that SMRT did a survey with their SLs about what bus brand is their ideal bus brand. MB got the win.
Anw, my answer would be 2 & 3 ![]()

haha... thats true too...
The tiny EDS could be improved on. Its even smaller than a quarter of the scania's eds. Lets hope they do something about it (applogies for the off-topic)

You know that LED use a little electricity, imagine lao ah ma see bus from rear???
