the first one:
A stubborn BC from China was stubborn not to listen to commuters' directions when he drove the wrong route. Instead, he insisted on knowing the route. This had let 20 commuters landed up on a 2 hour 'ride to nowhere'.
According to a forumite from my.sg, a S168 male BC drove the wrong route last wednesday (18th Jun 08) . He was supposed to turn at the Woodlands Ave 2 exit of the SLE but instead went straight before landed up in the Bt Panjang area.
This forumite added that there were 20 passengers onboard at the time of incident. They were appalled that the bus went on the wrong route. Some of them went to alert the driver about it. However, the stubborn driver refused to listen to the commuter's directions when he knows he is on the wrong route and insisted that he knows the route. Thus, the bus went round Bt Panjang for more than an hour, stretching an ordinary travelling time of 30min to 2 hours, angering the commuters.
User tamago pointed out: Despite having passengers onboard the bus, the BC eventually needed the company's van to 'rescue' him.
The bus was believed to be on its journey from Bedok Int to Woodlands Int. It passes by Bedok Reservoir Rd, Tampines Ave 1, Tampines Library at Tampines Ave 7 as well as the Singapore Sports School at Woodlands Ave 2.
Another user NightWish said that the bus was on the TPE when it got lost. This could have eventually landed the bus on the BKE that is bound for Bt Panjang.
In the online discussion, some questioned if this could be due to the influx of having more non-Singaporean BCs in the bus company recently.
Other users said, "Singapore's road names are derived from our multi-cultural heritage of chinese, malay, tamil, dialects, english etc. This is not surprising that a foreigner would find it hard to remember. It would be challenging when a foreign BC learns a bus route.

The second one
SBS Transit apologises to the affected commuters for the incident whereby the bus driver got lost whilst on duty. The driver concerned has since been dealt with.
SBS Transit spokesperson Tammy Tan replied in an email that the BC concerned had just started to drive on Service 168. The driver was supposed to exit to Woodlands Ave 2 towards Woodlands Int but did not do so. This led to the driver being lost.
"We have since apologised to the 20 affected commuters and their fares will be refunded. As a gesture of goodwill, we will be issuing the affected commuters complimentary tickets. We hope that they are able to contact us"
Tammy added, there are 5200 BCs in the company and being lost whilst on duty is rare. As the BC concerned is a new BC and being lost is not an excuse, the company has since dealt with the BC.

This is the best I can translate. My chinese isnt very fantastic.
Thanks bro!
thanks to service_238!!!! ![]()
From what I observed from my bus the other day, the support vehicle (aka the SBST van) seems to have completely miss the WDL Ave 2 slip road from BKE (bus entered from Woodlands Road).
If what I saw and assumed is correct, looks like the BC is not the only person to be held responsible. FYI, the van was seen with the VO right from Woodlands Road all the way to Bukit Panjang.
But since SBST has taken appropriate actions, I will take it as all parties responsible have been reprimanded and case closed :)
