I realise that some busfans get blurry pics of buses moving because they use auto mode. And please, refrain from flash. You may blind the driver eyes that way.
Sunny (Afternoon)
- Shutter Speed: 1/125 or better but don't go over 1/250
- ISO speed: 64 - 125
At night (static)
- Shutter Speed: 1/15 - 1/30
- ISO Speed: 200 - 400 (ISO800 not recomended)
At night (light-streaking)
- Shutter Speed: 1 - 2 second (keep camera stable, tripod recommended)
- ISO Speed: 64 - 150
For this one, the longer the shutter speed, the less ISO you need.
Please note that whatever you've put up down here VARIES from one camera to another. Hence, whatever you have suggested doesn't mean that it will work for all. IMO, the best for one to discover to take good bus photograph is through experimenting onto each individual camera. Not all cameras do have the 'S' mode that you're referring to.
My version, taken deep in changi north.

Oh come on. He was just trying to be helpful. Give him a break.

On the context, he is... But the way he reasoned things out is wrong at the first place. If he's trying to take his Nikon camera as a reference, everything may go wrong with a Canon, Fujifilm, or even, an Olympus camera!

Nah. Knowing your own camera specs is not equal to all different brands of camera. Unless u are using the same brand and model of camera i can teach u.
For eg, Some guys may be using Sport mode for taking photos. But using S5, Sport mode result in super grainy photos. U may tell me how pro u are at digital cameras, but u are teaching the wrong thing.

Yea. You do have a point there. But no need for the sarcasm right? Let's try to keep this place as pleasent as possible, shall we? Anyway, any idea why sports mode gives grainy picture? Shutter speed?

Agreed. He could be more specific. I'm sure he'll take note in the future.
