Right now, the have 500 K230s at about 300K each. They could have Volvo B10BLEs $290, 494 each which are cheaper and better.
Volvo B10TL 3-axle/Volgren/Voith (9800A-9849K except 9810X): $398,355/=
Volvo B10TL 3-axle/Volgren Australia/Voith (9810X): $389,944/= (cheaper than other VSOs)
I wonder why don't they buy more Australia assembled ones which are cheaper. Then their workshop don't need to assemble themselves.
150 new Volvo B9TL Superbuses - $71 million
1 Volvo B9TL - $473, 333.333333333 aka $475k(round up)
Why is a B9TL more expensive then a B10TL?
I do have a shock that the L94UB is cheap.
But the K230UBs are ok to me, but B10BLE (Diesel) I think it's outdated at the time SBST consider buying. But, I would suggest SBST order more B7RLE as I personally think that SBS8030L is better than the K230UBs after all, except to implement a few changes to the seating arrangment at the rear and Soon Chow to build the bodywork since I like the interior, and I bet all other busfans would agree on it (except for the rear seat).

that B10BLE price was 10 years ago price lah. If u compare the prices of B10BLE against DM3500 at that time, then it is 100K more expensive.
As for the VSO, i think the price included the shipping charges, and from Australia to S'pore is cheaper than from Europe to Singapore, if i am not wrong. Thus there is a slight difference.
L94UB is a demostrator ,thus Scania should be offering some special discount.
Do you know that the B7RLE (8030) cost only S$200K mah. 100K cheaper than Scania.
and i foresee more argument later on in this thread.. just like what happen in the MAN/B7RLE/Scania threads.

I don't know why the source says that 9888Y is bodies by WA. If I'm not wrong, I believe 9888Y is bodied by an older version of Volgren.
same version la. just that the production ones mod the design here and there abit.

Bro,
Volvo B7RLE does not belongs to SBS Transit. The bus belongs to Volvo. Volvo only lend the bus to SBS Transit for evaluation. Even if there is any major problem with the bus, SBST cannot do anything to the bus but they have to send the bus back to Volvo or Soon Chow for maintanance. The same applies to 8033.
Some sidetrack,
SMRT must buy DDs to allow them to ease traffic.
All interchanges are DD friendly except for Yishun mah

is not a must. they can survive without them but by buying mroe buses. i believe some of their depots cannot accomodate DDs

Bro,
in which part of my post, did i ever mention anything about the ownership of B7RLE? I am just pointing out the demostrator price only. If you know something, just reply to the topic. Need not quote my post and direct your reply to me if it is not related to me at all.
And in official records of LTA, 8030 is registered under SBST. Not under Volvo or whatever so even though Volvo may be responsible for the maintenance of the bus.

Their AMDEP is struggling with the shortage of buses. All 'cos of the delay of the OC500LE. But I don't think that SMRT can still buy DDs yet. The Yishun INT project has been delayed for another 2-3 years and plus I think AMDEP has height restrictions for their buses.
How about WLDEP and KJDEP, are they non-dd friendly
But INT wise, all should be ok except Yishun, BB/ CCK had DD in SBS era, SBW/BP is ok as open air parking, WL had DD now
Thanks for answering.
Actually, i feel that SMRT should buy more bendies if they hate or cannot buy DD, see Tibs last time almost 1 yr have one new bendies model

All 3 SMRT depots are not DD friendly...

KJ is DD friendly..
Just make sure that the bus dont go through the bus-wash machine. :P
To my observation compared SBS Transit to SMRT buses, I think that SBS Transit knows how to buy their buses although the SBST MB can last longer than Scania L113 ELBO. Normally before making a bus, the coachbuilders normally ask us to choose from Grade 1,2 & 3. If we choose grade 1,it will last long. Grade 3 won't last longer.

Actually, WLDEP and KJDEP was to move site when their lease terms end, so at that time they may built some DD friendly measures in them and DD in SMRT may be true at last
Folks
Please do note that the cost stated are of DEPECIATED value. Also, why some of the buses are much expensive is due to the currency converted from the country SBS bought from many moons ago...
