Add 905R, 897E. And I believe there's more of them.
890Z is not a voith. And if I recall correctly, so isn't 895K.
And furthermore quite a number of these Voith MKIVs are 4 speed. So far confirmed ones include 886, 894, 903. From the slightly different performance afforded by these 4 speed MKIVs compared to the 3 speed ones, there's definitely more out there. The confirmed ones are the ones that showed that last gear at speed.

Maybe the DM3500s have 4 speed and the Voith-ed MarkIV DMs have 3 speed?

Yep. Affirm that.
In fact I begin to even wonder if ALL the Voith MKIVs are actually 4 speed. The process of confirming the 4 speed ones is painstaking and after so many years I only found 3 confirmed ones!

pls lar. DM3500s are powered with D863.3, a 3-speed gearbox. B9TL Voith are 4-speed, powered with D864.3.

another 4 speed: 905R.
or at least i think. was analysing the engine sounds when i took this bus on 27.
i notice it sound like TD102KF leh.. issit?
cos i noe 3 speed voiths like 892T when no NBS the low idle is like mk3, rough sounding. but when the bus move off the engine tone is deeper. for 4 speed like 905 when applied pbrake, the nbs cut off can hear that the idle is not so loud and rough asthe THD101GC on 892 and 3-speeder mk4's. also when the bus move off, it produce a similar noise to the ZF mk4's, in terms of engine noise la, not gearbox sounds.

I've noticed that too. But the loud noise seems to be caused by the radiator.
3 speed MKIVs generally display less torque than the 4 speed ones, but that is a rather inaccurate way of identifying them.
If the B9TL is resistent to its 2nd overdrive, the MKIV seems to be practically rejecting its 4th gear, hence the difficulty in trying to find these buses.![]()
