since "hougang south" is already a history, there's no ambiguity to call it "hougang", somemore, this is the only case where the name of interchange does not agree with the name of the MRT station...
leave the name as it is. it is to remind folks that there used to be a Hougang South int..
it is the same with Bedok north depot. why i it left as bedok north n not bedok?
cause there used to be a bedok depot. after it got demolished, authorties decided to retain the bedok north name for the other Bedok depot.
having a sense of history is good.
I agree..
Keep there for historical reason.

go have a look there/
I used to hate the noise coming out from the temporary hougang bus interchage as it is directly opposite my house.
And hougang south interchange, the feeder service side changed into a temporary bus park for private buses going to Malaysia and a bus stop for buses 112,113,115 and 119. The trunk services side changed into a car park.
Hougang interchange (now Kovan Hub) was its main interchange in Hougang Town in the past. There was another bus terminal which was located at the end of Upper Serangoon Road.
In 1995, LTA opened another new bus interchange in Hougang Central to replace the bus terminal in Upper Serangoon End, and was named as Hougang Central interchange. On that day service 165 was also extended to the new Hougang Central interchange and new feeder service 325 introduced. Whereas the existing Hougang interchange was renamed to Hougang South interchange.
Hougang South interchange ceased operations only in 2004, about half a year after the NEL began operations. All the existing trunk services were amended to terminate at Hougang Central interchange instead, whereas feeders were merged and integrated into trunk services 112 and 113.
As for the present Kovan Hub now, service 115 currently utilise the place while service 119 loops there.
Reminds me also in 1996 when Woodlands interchange was shifted from near the causeway to its new location in Woodlands Square and known as Woodlands Regional interchange.
Hougang Int by right was e former Hougang Sth Interchange
Just like why Jurong East not Jurong... cos there used to be Singapore's ever biggest bus int at Jurong Port Rd till 1990

1/2.... e other half is still a bus stop...
why not Hon Gan. hahaha
The temp int is just for 6 bus services as the temp int does not have enough space to house all original services, generally, i could remember all hougang feeders are in it plus some trunk.
As for the other services, it is treminated at the old hougang central int which is called hougang central ter which does not allow boarding and alighting, the boarding and allighting point would be near the temp int.
All these for NEL Hougang station
