Singapore public transport has changed and progressed rapidly since its early days, from bus conductors to One-Man-Operated(OMO) ticket dispensing machines, farecard validators to the current EZ-Link cards. Bus technologies also changed rapidly to the current modern and comfortable public transport.
I'd like to find out what people missed about the good old days; be it interesting, pleasant or unpleasant memories...
Anything about Singapore's previous public transport can be discussed:
- services
- buses, bus-stops..
- etc...
- Unrefurbished Mark IIIs, O405s and Scania N113CRB OACs. I wonder if the NAC Scanias had PVC seats originally
- SBST 2000 refurbishment programme.
- The LO2x, LA and O305.
- The PAC/FAC services in the 1990s. I read from sources that 7 was the first service to get LO3x.
For me, I remember taking a Merz on 31 with blue seats when I was 6 years old in 2000 from Bedok to Tampines.
If i'm not wrong, Singapore's oldest bus-stop is at Old CCK rd... the road where 172,975 & 405 plies. I really hope even if they want to replace it, the old one still can be preserved and put in the museum perhaps ?
Those Choa Chu Kang Rd 1970s bus stops are to stay after all
But at e same time, that hotel w/ e man operated lift is forced to be demolished for mini MRT line

This means that the blue PVC seats on the NAC Scanias are already 19 years old and some are still not having cracks yet. How nice! Apart from that, I wonder if there was a craze to catch the first 10 LO3x on 7 in 1993.

S'pore's 1st aircon double-deck.
It certainly was a great improvement in the service. And it helped that SBS sold the idea of the Superbus. It was a great idea that caught on quickly and cemented in the minds of the public.
I got those old model in the form of printed paper bus model.
I display them in my glass display cabinet.
