Since the first day that 147 becomes WAB in around Sept 2006 when I first took a B9TL bus serving 147, I have not seen a wheelchair-bound personnel onboard on service 147 till now. That makes me ponder the number of wheelchair-bound people taking buses as their main form of transport.
In addition, seeing WAB buses packed daily during peak hours make me wonder again whether wheelchair-bound can board onto a WAB bus to get to their destination. 147 for example is normally packed from 0730 hrs to around 0830 hrs, during noontime from Hougang to Clementi. That means that it is typical for a wheelchair-bound personnel to wait for a long time for a WAB bus to arrive. This will instead deter them from taking buses even though there are facilities available to transport the disabled.

The no. of PIWs on 147 is quite healthy. Can see 1 PIW every now and then.
The problem is, PIWs usually avoid taking the bus during the Peak hour. If you've been taking 147 during peak hour all these while, it is likely that you wont be able to see. try taking off-peak and u might see a few.
p.s. I know theres 1 PIW who always take from Hougang Int and the other will always board along Bendemeer Rd.

Until now only 5 services that ply Orchard Road uses K230UBs (36, 64, 105, 123 & 174).
wat bus will 16 use after the b10m r phased out?
King Long volgren WAB if there is lol

What do you mean by a King Long Volgren ?
I think 232 and 238 should be WAB. Either 88 or 163 too because of the total extreme lack of WABs on Toa Payoh, there only being 143.
197 is the best choice, given the route that it goes to...
I hope Service 30 become WAB with lots of B9TLs, but no KUB please. The ideal fleet would be half LO3x and half B9TL

I hope there is Zero B9 on 147...

The purpose of WABs is not just to link PIW to hospitals, but as alternative transportation around Singapore.
So like I've mentioned before, all services should go WAB, not services that we think "should be WAB" services.
Being wheelchair-bound does not mean they spend their whole day visiting hospitals!
There needs to be an established and inter-connected network of WAB routes in Singapore before we can see them being utilised in a big way. A reasonable first step would be to make all feeder bus services WAB so as to expand the reach of the rail system which has already been made wheelchair-accessible.
May I also emphasise that services that have a lot of old folk =/= services that should get WAB. In a recent report by Shin Min, most old folk interviewed actually detest the new WAB designs as it meant they needed to climb steps while the bus is in motion so as to get a seat, thereby increasing the risk of falls and injuries. As a result many of them would rather stand along the way.
Unless anyone of us forumers are also wheelchair users, we should not impose our opinions on them for they should be allowed to speak up for themselves on which services should be provided to benefit them best.
Feeders should be WAB.
My ideal is to serve PIWs around the neighbourhood.
So the feeders with existing WAB buses should be WAB services.

Thats true, but its a matter of which services should get them FIRST. I, too, agree that all services should become WAB but i believe that feeders and those passing by major hospitals should get them first.
It is a matter of time bef all SG buses become WAB
