Most fuel efficienct bus model.

  I was just wondering, are there any figures out there regarding the fuel efficiency of bus models. For example,in the airline industry there is gas(fuel)per mile per pax figures showing the fuel efficiency of a particular ac model. FYI, A380 is 20% more fuel efficient than B744. Are similiar figures recorded by bus companies. I'm sure they will to take into account future purchases. And i'm remember seeing in the new paper a few years ago gas mileage of sv171 on a merc benz. Does anyone have more figures ?

  That article is at least 10 years I think. It mentioned the fuel consumption as 2km per litre (presumably on a O405), and that it needs 11 pax per trip to break even.

  Hmm i rmbr someone told me an O405 does around 4km per litre. 2km per litre seems a little too much. But i need someone to confirm this.

  Depends on the weight of the bus, the engine, and transmission and, of course, the driver.  A typical turbocharged O 405 with a ZF transmission will use around 40L of diesel per 100km.  A typical Volvo B12BLE will use around 60L per 100km.  An OC 500 LE will use around 45L per 100km.

  Thanks for the info. I figure out it's 2.5 times more fuel inefficient to take a car compared to bus based on average figures. And what is the OC 500 LE ? Is it on S'pore roads ?
