in the first place. this service is not catered to NYP students. NYP students are not dismissed betwen 0718-0754 hours and mostly do not report to school between 1931-2007 hours
For those who had taken the bus from end to end during the 2 peak periods, did you notice something interesting?
Yes, it charged only 67 cents!! I suppose there are errors in calculating the right fares :p

It happened on the first day of operation.. when did you take? I wonder if its an error or a marketing gimmick..

Well, the bus service demand is not there yet. But people would soon know that taking 128 is more faster than what it would take to take a Service 70 bus. I waited outside Apex Tower for the 1st PM trip and a Service 70 VSO pass by, 5 mins before the 1st trip came. A SBST official was there to check out the 1st PM trip down.
I rode till YMCA and there, I waited for the second trip. A few bus enthusiasts were on it. I took the route till the ending point at YCK MRT. The SAME SERVICE 70 VSO was just coming into YCK Int. I hope people would realise this service. There comes the truth; after Jubilee AMK, the bus fans had the whole bus to themselves (except an SBST official noting the passenger density in and out of the bus.) till YCK.
But overall, it duplicated part of Sv 162 route till Novena.
--edited--
At the end of the day, if you take away the traffic and the high passengers loading, 70 shld be faster than 128.
anyway, SBS8181 does 3 trips of Sv 269 in PM, before crossing over to Sv 128. Departure time from AMK Int - 1533, 1622, 1712. today boarded 1712 trip and BC immediately switch EDS to SBS Transit after turning into Int. SBS8183 was the next bus to arrive.
wonder how is the demand for Sv 128 now..

Thanks for the timing! I wanted to go find that super-friendly lady BC again. Haha.

I paid 67c for my full trip ride on the first day too. I suspect either the 128 route itself was mistakenly programmed as a feeder route, or the BC could have set the route wrongly while crossing over between 128 and the AMK feeders.
There was once a 74 bus charged it's passengers $1.80 flat from Hougang to Ang Mo Kio.. because the crossover BC was operating CT28's route on the IDFC instead =.= While at Ang Mo Kio the bus had went through all the stops on the CT28 route and the BC declared "breakdown" in ticketing equipment.
One of the passengers wrote in to zaobao to complain of overcharging. He mentioned that when he checked the record on the GTM, he saw an "unknown deduction of $1.80" for a "unfamiliar service number which he did not take", i.e. 816 (CT28). SBST offered refunds to the affected passengers in its reply, though I doubt many of the passengers on that affected trip eventually did read the papers.
So how's svc 128 now?

that lady BC driving 8459? i alway saw a lady BC driving 8459. usually reaching AMK Depot at around 1.10pm. i didnt see any lady BC driving 8181/8183 yet.
wonder if after 6month trial, those bus stops with no/low demand wil be skipped, something like fast-forward services.

SBS8459J does E-shift, so it is common to see her entering at that time.
