WEll, I have to admit that the campaign itself is not working as it should. The problem now is that the bus companies have tried their best but it all comes to PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. Sometimes, people don't bother filling up seats and moving in which have cause discomfort for people. One case is on every Friday afternoon at around lunchtime in neighbourhoods. Services that serves 2 or more schools have this problem. We will use Service 962 as an example.
962 runs to Sembawang Drive, where it passes 3 schools with 1 000 odd pupils each. Most people from these schools take the bus to school and back home in Woodlands. The problem now is that School A would have the chance of boarding the bus first, then School B. By then, the bus is full of people; not full to capacity though. The students have left spaces at the rear for 'ghosts' to fill in and when people sees the gap. It really made tempers flare, including mine with some gangsters showing the middle finger and scolding the f$#% word.
Ok, continue with story..
The bus reaches the 1st alighting 'hot spot'; Sun Plaza and people from School C come onboard the bus, whereas 30% - 40% of passengers would alight. In fact, after the stop, there's no change of effect. Sometimes, it worsens the situation. When the bus passes school C, the bus driver thought that there's no space but there is really space available at the rear! When the bus passes infront of School C, the driver just passes by without stopping and this causes uproars. Students from School C will suffer the most here.
A solution is still not suggested.
There are times where I politely ask the neigbouring school students to move in to the rear of the bus so that my other schoolmates could board and get back home with no delays. This earned me a nickname in school. But, what's with the nickname? My aim is to help. What wrong am I doing. Sometimes, it takes a bit of a quarrel to settle a friend of mine to fill in a seat so that other's could board.
I always wonder this; Am I being too much at helping? Nothing much can be said but I'll leave it up to you to discuss.
Frankly speaking 962 isn't the worst. Think about 911.Having to pass by 4 schools just in the St81/82/83 sector and another 2 on the otherside that is 6. So what? Its still not the worst case scenario here anyway
My school is VS, always 31, 196 and 197 is packed to the brim by KC,VS,Tao nan students, the bc tried to ask them move back, they dun want, bc shout again and threathen to carry them, they moved finally, imagine B9 front half sardines, the back no pple, empty seats somemore, until sbst cannot tahan bc complain and call up our sch and our sch principal gave us a lecture....

You help your schoolmates fight for space to board yet they give you a nickname? In this case it shows that your efforts have been wasted.
Well, its a hard fact of life that such cases do happen. Just accept it.
Just 2 days ago on Service 72, I was been asked my that driver to move inside the rear. I wish 72 fleets can be better leh. I mean less buses = more ppl to the door.
solution: 980 sunday night method.

People love to stand near the entrance/ exit, and sometimes they do not even notice the big obvious gaps when people moved back, hence making the SL think that there's already no space when there is space in the middle.
Unless the SL shouts, the passenger will just block and probably notice nothing about the extra space that can allow more people a chance to board. I remember there's one lion cat wearing T-shirt "please move to the back campaign" in the past.

Well, they immitate what I do usually on fridays and some call me as 'please move to the rear' boy.
f them, they just dont appreciate your effort
You Will feel even more angry when there is seats on the upper floor and nobody moves up
Bus 31 suffer from this every morning at tanah merah MRT
Some buses like service 27 that I have boarded during the Amazing Race have pre-installed voice recorders in the bus to tell passengers to move to the rear. The BC will just have to press a button to activate. It is a rather "innovative" way in my opinion to solve this problem but very costly.
The case of TP is that sometimes gaps don't get filled at the back, the worst is people refuse to go to the second level yet still block the entrance.

This happens to the feeders. I always observe that many people don't want to move upstairs on 225's DD because the journey is short. This shows the advantange of having bendies for feeders. The DDs can then be given to the long trunk routes. But sadly LTA does not allow anymore new bendies.
Twenty years ago, it was the same. Only the buses have changed.
Twenty years from now, it will be the same. Only the buses will change.
Let the sardines, stop more from boarding the bus. Let those who could not board see the ample space at the rear of the bus. And leave it at that.
There is a slight possibility that those in the bus, and those left at the bus-stop will collectively be educated about moving to the rear of the bus. But I doubt so.
Even if they deploy personnel to encourage peeps to move to the rear but until how far can they do?Pardon me but i see more students are relunctant to move to the rear as if they owned the whole buses...We as the bus fans can play a part by helping the driver to politely ask peeps to move to the rear,But again sometimes it's beyond our control
I still personally find that w/ inspectors deployed at those major bus stops would be more effective

edvident for all feeders and townlinks with DDs, maybe shall we have a petition to restart bendies....

Maybe I can start a petition at www.petitiononline.com . Bendies for high demand feeders and trunk routes with height limitation like sv 16, DDs for long trunk routes without height restrictions.

Do you seriously think SMRT will listen to you... even if the petition reaches a high enough number of signatures?

What is the possibility that a petition works?
what the current BCs do is that 'people don't move to rear = BC will not drive bus to continue journey from bus stop'
thats what i freq see when i ride a packed bus.
I've seen worst. Service 187 always get pack whereby students goin' to school and Service 187 passes alot of schools.
Bukit Batok - 2 schools.
Jurong East - 4 schools.
